If you’re excited about joining us and think you have some of what we’re looking for, even if you’re not 100% sure we would love to hear from you.Role overviewMarket Pricing is responsible for developing and delivering Hastings’ market pricing strategy, which drives commercial performance while ensuring fair customer outcomes. Our team is dedicated to maintaining a competitive edge by deeply understanding competitor behaviours and market dynamics. We leverage data to predict insurer activities, price changes, and market volatility at a granular level. By traditional analytics and advance data science techniques we anticipate pricing trends and inform long-term strategies. We are committed to continuously monitoring and understanding the frequency of price changes in the market. We complete tactical and deep-dive investigations as needed by business to ensuring our strategies are always ahead of the curve.Pricing Managers are key individuals in the team, each with responsibility for a specific area of pricing. They lead our pricing analysts and data scientists, managing the regular delivery of optimised market prices, pricing tests, and trading activity, as well as contributing to the development of our pricing approach.Job details:Completing deep dive investigations into competitor pricing, using that insight to anticipating their future strategies and inform and optimises Hastings’ pricing.Managing the development of our market models and regular insights reporting.Reviewing the data, analytical, and modelling outputs of your team to ensure our standards are met; rolling your sleeves up and diving into the code when needed.Conducting market analysis to benchmark our pricing strategies against competitors and identify opportunities for improvementDeveloping and implementing pricing strategies that respond to market trends and competitor actionsCollaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure pricing strategies align with overall business objectivesKeeping up to date with the latest thinking and developments in the business, the price comparison market, and the wider insurance industry; coming up with new ideas for test & learn, to inform and evolve our market pricing strategy.Fostering a culture of treating customers fairly, ensuring we follow internal governance processes and adhere to regulatory requirements.Managing and developing the team including Analysts and Data Scientists.Essential skills we would love you to have:Degree in a numerical discipline (e.g., mathematics, sciences, economics).Experience working in a pricing or commercially focused analytical role.SQL and experience working with large or complex datasets.R/Python/Matlab or coding statistical methods in other languages.Mentoring, training, or project-based management of junior colleagues.DesirableInsurance industry experience or actuarial qualification (not essential).Experience with Radar, Earnix, or other specialist pricing software.Familiarity with deploying code and models into production environments.Working in a regulated industry and familiarity with governance processes.The interview process:Our interview process involves the below:Recruiter screening call1st stage interview with hiring leader2nd interview with hiring leaders Panel formatAs a Disability Confident employer, we’re committed to ensuring our recruitment processes are fully inclusive – what this means to you is if you’re applying for a job with us, you’ll have fair access to support and adjustments throughout your recruitment journey.
