Job Summary
The Applied Ocean Physics and Engineering Department is currently searching for a postdoctoral investigator to work with a cross-disciplinary team to investigate the ecological consequences of Gulf Stream meanders and warm-core rings breaking the shelf-slope frontal transport barrier through interacting with the steep and irregular shelf edge topography and inducing submesoscale cross-shelf exchange processes.
Job Description
This postdoctoral investigator position requires strong background in data analysis. Some familiarity with ocean instrumentation and sensors is preferred. A general understanding of the interactions between physical, biogeochemical, and biological processes is desirable. Strong oral and written communication skills, preferably demonstrated through publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals and presentations, are also required. The initial appointment is one year. Renewal of the appointment is conditional on the postdoctoral investigator making satisfactory progress during the first year and continuation of funding. This is a full-time position with full benefits.
Qualified applicants should submit a cover letter, CV, up to three relevant publications, and names/contact information for at least three professional references

- Synthesize the datasets to identify key cross-shelf exchange processes and achieve a deep understanding of the underlying biophysical dynamics.
- Take initiatives and pursue new research ideas in the analysis
