One YMCA are poised and ready to enter a period of rapid expansion and growth, with aspirations to both diversify and strengthen our housing provision. As part of these exciting plans, we have a newly established Place & Environment team who will focus on providing a full range of maintenance, repairs and building works that includes delivering our unique programme of major stock refurbishment.To strengthen the team and improve our service delivery we require a qualified Plumbing Engineer with extensive experience on a full-time basis. We are looking for a professional qualified Plumber who goes the extra mile, to lead the delivery of our high-quality repairs and maintenance function.The Role:

  • To be responsible for providing an excellent plumbing repairs and maintenance service to our customers, residents and staff ensuring properties are maintained to the highest standards.
  • Responding to plumbing emergencies, determining the issue and making a repair.
  • Performing regular maintenance of plumbing systems to prevent emergencies
  • Fix domestic appliance such as washing machines, dishwashers.
  • Utilize hand tools in fitting of valves, couplings and components for tanks, pumps or other plumbing system
  • Ensure compliance with building codes and set safety standards
  • Monitoring and inspecting works in progress including site audits.
  • Overseeing of internal operations whilst providing updates to Head of Place is a vital part of this role to continually improve standards and relationships across the portfolio ensuring safety of our residents and staff.
  • To lead the delivery of our high-quality repairs and maintenance function
  • This role requires an excellent communicator who is able to negotiate and influence and act as the ‘go-to’ expert for all things plumbing providing advice to all of One YMCA’s internal customers

Requirements:

  • Housing and commercial experience essential to maintain our portfolio of properties to a high standard.
  • Significant skill in performing regular maintenance of plumbing systems to prevent emergencies
  • Extensive experience in plumbing, domestic boiler/ heating installations in housing and commercial properties
  • City & Guilds Plumbing Qualification NVQ level 2 in plumbing and heating (or equivalent)

Working Pattern: Monday -FridayOne YMCA and its subsidiaries, the Early Childhood Partnership (ECP) and Signpost are on an exciting journey to double our impact by 2025. We are over half way through an exciting new strategy launched in the first hour of the new decade, via email where all staff and volunteers were invited to put themselves forward to apply and attend an intensive, three-day Kickstarter Event.By the end of these three days, there was a brilliantly multi-faceted set of themes and ideas, which formed the starting point for the rest of the Mission 25 process to build on. The aim of Mission 25 is to give every staff member and volunteer the opportunity to play their part in shaping the strategy to do “more and better, together” so that we double our impact by 2025. We deliver a vast array of services across Herts, Beds and Bucks that reach over 135,000 individuals annually.These include:
  • Provision of over 700 units of accommodation for homeless people
  • Move on accommodation for individuals moving onto independent living
  • Housing and practical/emotional support for young asylum seekers
  • Community HUBs hosting a range of activities and meeting space hire
  • Childcare provision in Hertfordshire
  • Family support through a network of children’s and family centres covering Hertfordshire and Bedford
  • Therapeutic and non-therapeutic support for male and female victims of domestic abuse and their children
  • Independent sexual violence services across Bedfordshire, Luton and Hertfordshire
  • Domestic abuse perpetrator reform programmes across Bedfordshire
  • Youth services offering emotional wellbeing support and youth club opportunities for 11-19 year olds alongside our National Airplay programme funded by the RAF Benevolent Fund
