This position can be located in Warwick or London – We offer hybrid/flexible working opportunities.Job PurposeAs the Platform Owner responsible for Test Data Engineering Management, Test Data Virtualization, Test Automation, and Performance Test Automation, your role is pivotal in achieving our vision of being recognized as a world-leading Information Technology and Digital function in the energy sector. You will serve as a trusted partner across National Grid businesses.In this position, you will lead the development and implementation of technology strategies and architectures specific to your platform areas. By establishing policies and guidelines related to the platform strategy, managing stakeholder relationships, and fostering innovation capabilities, you will contribute to our vision of becoming an industry leader. Leveraging emerging technologies, you will drive growth and success, ensuring that our organization remains at the forefront of technological advancements.What you’ll doAs a Test Data Engineering Management, Test Data Virtualization, Test Automation, and Performance Test Automation Platform Owner, your key roles and responsibilities will include:
- Leading and managing a team to ensure the successful delivery of infrastructure platform products and services in the specified areas.
- Owning the strategic planning and roadmap for the platform services/products related to test data engineering management, test data virtualization, test automation, and performance test automation.
- Setting the direction for the design and development of the platform services/products within your domain.
- Collaborating with the Platform Technical Leads, Product Owners, and Platform Success Managers to prioritize initiatives involving the platform services/products.
- Managing the performance of team members within your team.
- Developing and implementing strategic plans for the platform services/products to meet the company’s objectives and goals.
- Collaborating with other engineering teams and stakeholders to determine needs and requirements for the platform services/products.
- Ensuring the platform services/products are scalable, efficient, and secure by implementing best practices and industry standards, in coordination with the Platform Technical Lead and Chapter Leaders.
- Researching and evaluating new infrastructure technologies and solutions to improve the performance and functionality of the platform services/products.
- Creating and delivering traceable and auditable customer success metrics for the platform services/products.
- Monitoring and analyzing platform performance metrics and reporting on the overall health of the platform to senior leadership.
- Managing the infrastructure platform within budget guardrails to ensure alignment with company priorities and goals.
- Collaborating with Transversal Teams to align Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs) and prioritize them jointly.
- Participating in the Community of Practice (CoP) to share best practices and standards.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with vendors and service providers to ensure the success of the platform services/products.
About you
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Or a BS/BA degree or higher in a technical discipline in the US, or the UK equivalent.
- 7-10 or more years of relevant experience.
- 5 or more years of people management experience with relevant industry and professional certifications.
- Experience in strategic technology leadership, IT infrastructure, analytics, and outsourcing management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, including articulating complex ideas and influencing in a matrix environment.
- Strong ability to guide IT financials and lead a diverse team with inclusive culture across geographical boundaries.
- Develop trusted relationships with key stakeholders to deliver desired business outcomes.
- Experience with test management tools such as HP ALM/Quality Center, JIRA, TestRail, or Zephyr for managing test cases, test execution, and defect tracking.
- Proficiency in test automation frameworks and tools such as Playwright, Selenium WebDriver, Appium, Cucumber, or Robot Framework for automating test cases and regression testing.
- Familiarity with AI testing tools such as Applitools, Testim, or Functionize for AI-based testing, visual testing, and intelligent test automation.
- Knowledge of performance testing tools such as Apache JMeter, LoadRunner, or Gatling for simulating load and stress testing, measuring system performance, and identifying bottlenecks.
- Experience with test data management tools such as Delphix, Informatica, or IBM Optim for managing test data, data masking, and data virtualization.
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as GitHub, Jenkins, Bamboo, or GitLab CI/CD for integrating testing into the development pipeline and enabling continuous testing and delivery.
- Proficiency in virtualization tools such as Docker or VMware for creating and managing virtual test environments, enabling efficient and scalable testing.
- Knowledge of API testing tools such as Postman, SoapUI, or RestAssured for testing RESTful and SOAP web services, API endpoints, and backend integrations.
- Experience with test environment management tools such as Test Environment Management (TEM) or Enov8 for managing test environments, test data, and test infrastructure.
- Familiarity with test reporting and analytics tools such as TestComplete, TestLink, or qTest for generating test reports, analyzing test results, and tracking test metrics.
What you’ll getA competitive salary between £75,000 – 95,000 – dependent on capabilityAs well as your base salary, you will receive a company car or allowance, a bonus of up to 20% of your salary for stretch performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
