ABOUT THE ROLEWe have an exciting opportunity for a People Partner to join our Business Partnering team, on a 12 month fixed term contract/secondment basis.You will be working across John Lewis Operations, which includes our distribution network, shops, Retail Support teams and Customer Care. You’ll be partnering the Operations Director, Retail Director and Distribution Director, as well as their leadership teams to drive overall team effectiveness, cultural change and land critical people priorities.With previous experience working in HR Business Partner or People Partner roles, you’ll be able to impact quickly through building credible relationships and being able to understand the strategic ambition of the business and translate that into practical plans and delivery with the John Lewis Operations teams. You’ll be able to work at pace, juggle multiple priorities and navigate ambiguity are key to success in this role. Working with the wider partnering team, you’ll be the critical link between the leaders you support and the teams across the People function. You’ll make sure the People function understands the strategic people priorities of John Lewis, and you’ll collaborate with the centres of expertise and delivery teams in People to make sure appropriate support and resources are lined up to help deliver their strategy..Salary – £52,500 – £84,000.Contract type – This position is a fixed term contract/secondment until July 2026.Working pattern/flexible working – The Partnership has adopted a hybrid working approach, meaning you’ll be able to work a mixture between the office and home based upon your personal needs whilst balancing the needs of the business.Location – This role is based at our Pimlico Head Office in London. Regular travel with weekly site visits will be required as part of the role.Key responsibilitiesWorking in partnership with your Leaders and their teams, you will:Review and develop the People Plan for John Lewis operational areas, ensuring they connect to the John Lewis strategy and Partnership’s People Strategy.You’ll collaborate with other People Partners to identify cross-functional interdependencies and synergies.Prioritise and phase delivery of the People strategy and plan to make sure resources are focused on activities that deliver maximum strategic value.Coach leaders, individually and collectively, to support their development as role models of the Partnership’s desired leadership practices and behaviours.Make sure their organisation design structures support delivery of the Partnership Plan both now and for the future.Drive talent and performance priorities in John Lewis Operations.Identify the people capabilities needed to drive success now and in the future, creating a strategic workforce plan.Through matrix accountability, you’ll provide clear direction and empower others across the People function, providing them the appropriate space and support to succeed and develop. You’ll provide constructive and timely feedback to help others increase their contribution and grow. And bring the Partnership’s leadership practices to the fore.You’ll be an active role model for the Partnership leadership behaviours and a champion of inclusion & diversity, making sure they’re the ‘golden threads’ that run through all People activity.
