Since opening in 2013, NuVista/True North has expanded to 20 locations in 6 provinces (Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, PEI, Ontario, Saskatchewan, and Alberta) and continues to expand. In every clinic we practice a holistic approach to mental health, which includes related therapeutic interventions, assessments, programs, neurofeedback, workshops and groups, and counselling. This role can be performed on a fully remote basis.Now, we are excited to be partnering with them to find a new Payroll Coordinator to join their team.To learn more, visit their website:Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Payroll Coordinator is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll for all employees and assisting with onboarding and benefits. This role involves maintaining payroll records, calculating wages, and ensuring compliance with all applicable Canadian laws and regulations. The Payroll Coordinator will also work with HR to help with recruitment, onboarding, and benefits enrollment.Key Responsibilities:
- Process bi-weekly payroll for all salaried, hourly, and contracted staff in an accurate and timely manner, including calculating wages, overtime, and deductions.
- Ensure all payroll-related paperwork (tax forms, benefits deductions, etc.) is accurately completed.
- Prepare payroll reports and compensation reports, post payroll journal entries in QuickBooks.
- Complete and issue Records of Employments (ROE) in accordance with Service Canada requirements and maintain a record of all ROE numbers.
- Prepare and reconcile T4s and T4As.
- Responsible for general administration of benefit plans (enrollments, changes, retirements, etc.).
- Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure compliance with company policies and Canadian legal requirements.
- Act as the first point of contact for manager inquiries around payroll.
- Collaborate with the HR and Finance departments to ensure accurate employee data and payroll processing.
- Stay updated on changes in payroll laws and regulations to ensure compliance.
- Ad hoc recruitment support including resume screening, posting job openings, coordinate interviews with hiring managers.
- Support the HR team with onboarding new employees including completing onboarding via Rise, new hire equipment set up, providing company policies, and benefits/RRSP enrollment.
- Support the company with special projects and audits as needed.
- Other tasks as needed, including training and professional development.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- 3-5 years Canadian payroll experience paired with relevant post-secondary education.
- Payroll certification (PCP and/or CPM) is ideal.
- Excellent MS Office skills including advanced Excel knowledge.
- Data entry experience preferred.
- Ability to understand and manage responsibilities in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to recognize and respond to problems and find solutions.
- Ability to work independently and effectively on multiple tasks and projects.
- Perform professional level tasks requiring independent judgement, initiative and tact.
- Experience with end-to-end complex payroll processing in multi-jurisdictions in Canada would be a significant asset.
