Works with visitor services to gain experience in the operations of a safe, welcoming, and well balanced visitor services program. This position is stationed in Newport, OR.

  • Provide informal interpretation for visitors on the seabirds and marine mammals of Oregon Islands National Wildlife Refuge at multiple locations
  • Assist with communication, outreach, and marketing for wildlife refuges through a variety of media
  • Work alongside refuge volunteers and staff on habitat restoration
  • Help protect wildlife and ensure visitor safety
  • Assist with trail maintenance

Requirements: 

  • B.Sc. preferred or some undergrad coursework in biology, natural resources, park management, or related field required
  • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident under age 31
  • Valid state driver’s license
  • Must be able to work independently and in groups
  • Must have good observational and communication skills
  • Schedule flexibility, including weekend, holidays, and morning/evening shifts
