At North York General, our team is making a world of difference.Position SummaryThe Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a registered nurse in the extended class (EC), who possesses the competencies to autonomously diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe pharmaceuticals, and perform procedures within their legislated scope of practice. The Nurse Practitioner exhibits advanced knowledge, skills, and judgment in providing patient care that aligns with the current College of Nurses of Ontario Practice Standards for Nurse Practitioners and the competencies defined by the Canadian Nurses Association for Nurse PractitionersAs the NP, you will deliver specialized and advanced nursing care, including virtual services, for patients admitted to the Orthopaedic service and collaborate with the associated ambulatory areas such as TJAC, Pre-Op, Orthopaedic/Plastic clinic, and the Emergency Department within an interprofessional team model. You will provide leadership and be responsible for the promotion and enhancement of Orthopaedic Surgery care across the health care continuum. You will integrate research into practice, to ensure best practice standards are maintained and incorporated into clinical initiatives. You will collaborate with the interprofessional team and primary care providers to assist patients and their families in navigating the health care continuum. This involves conducting comprehensive nursing assessments and consultations with orthopedic patients and families with complex needs across various clinical programs and settings. Additionally, you will work with program leaders and staff to develop, implement, and evaluate best practices in orthopaedic care. A key focus will be on providing leadership to promote awareness and understanding of Orthopaedic Surgery through initiating and participating in professional and organizational activities. This aims to advance nursing practice and enhance patient care outcomes in the field of Orthopaedic surgical care.
