Smiths Detection is a global leader in detection and control technologies for the protection of people and property, promoting safety, security, and freedom of movement in today’s world.Job DescriptionThe NPI Procurement Manager is in charge of overseeing procurement activities in New Product Introduction (NPI) projects. This role serves as the key interface between design and development teams and the procurement function, ensuring seamless integration of procurement requirements into product development. The successful candidate will be accountable for delivering procurement objectives within NPI programs and will represent the NPI Lead for Procurement within the PLP Team.The role is focused on ;

  • Managing NPI programmes for procurement: Accountable for the delivery of the procurement requirements in all new products introduction projects. The role is the interface between the design and development teams and the procurement function.

Representative of the NPI Lead for Procurement within the PLP Team.Main ResponsibilitiesNew Product Introduction:

  • Manage NPI activities within procurement according to the procurement standard and according to the PLP Process,
  • Ensure sourcing decision are in line with Categories Strategies manage with the SSR/SNC process,
  • Build close working relationships with Design, Marketing, Programme, Product Manager and Engineering (Portfolio, Innovation and Digital Team) to embed effective value stream thinking, into every stage of New Product Development and to become the recognised expert in this field,
  • Developing / Adapting PLP Process to suit procurement development roadmap.
  • Make sure Procurement’s interests are considered/represented in all Gate reviews.
  • Set procurement targets at product and key component levels.
  • Ensuring our BOM cost will be better than the target, or if necessary, set up a roadmap to be in line with the target,
  • Collaborate with the Manufacturing and Aftermarket PLP leads to ensure that programme decisions meet Operations and Service medium term and strategic objectives.
  • Lead the collaboration with suppliers (through the procurement team) to create and approve individual sourcing requirements standards ahead of final part release.
  • Manage NPI Reporting.

QualificationsRequired profileTechnical Knowledge and Skills:

  • 5+ Years of experience in procurement & operations domain, preferably in the industry.
  • B.S c. or M.Sc. from Business School or Engineering School,
  • Working experience across multiple geographies and cultures.
  • Strong mindset to take/defend position,
  • Strong motivation with ability to take initiative and drive issues
  • Analytic and problem-solving mindset
  • Passion for engineering and product excellence
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills
  • Ability to interact effectively with senior management and other organizations
  • Self-starter with ability to priorities and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic, growing and developing organization
  • Fluent in English
