Are you interested in a new and challenging opportunity? We are looking for a Network Analyst to secure architecture, design, and operational maintenance services for CNL’s WAN, LAN, Internet, VPN, and telephone communications infrastructure, ensuring reliable operation and Quality of Service. The role will provide ongoing direct support for provisioning of communications services and third-level support for the network and telephone portfolios including problem resolution, upgrades, and enhancements.What you will be doing!
- Providing expertise required for the day-to-day and routine troubleshooting and maintenance of the LAN Infrastructure, Videoconference, Firewalls, B2B VPN, Remote Access, Telephony Infrastructure and Network monitoring systems, working with other groups within IT to complete operational tasks.
- Reviewing operational inefficiencies, systemic problems, researching and recommending new technology, and acting as the Sr. Network Analyst on major project initiatives.
- Diagnosing and performing analysis on larger-scale problems (e.g. remote access is not working, affecting multiple users), analyzing the individual components that may be contributing to the problem.
- Diagnosing and resolves non-routine and complex network/telephony problems (e.g. Network Core or Data Centre switch issues / failures) Designs, installs, supports, and troubleshoots more complex technologies such as: Ethernet switches and router equipment, remote access (SSL & IPSec, VPN), Firewalls, business to business VPN connections, VoIP.
- Diagnosing performance issues and performs application analysis on the largest-scale problems.
- Documents installation and configuration procedures.
- Developing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedure documentation for all networking solutions.
- Providing subject matter expertise as the networking resource on a wide variety of internal and customer facing technology projects, supporting organizational standards
- Acting as an escalation point to manage all required vendor and external technical resources to effectively troubleshoot issues.
- Leading and participating in the work of staff in managing projects including directing small to large network projects.
- Coordinating, configuring, installing, and maintaining local area, wide area, and wireless networks.
- Measuring volume and performance of network traffic.
- Analyzing network problems and implements solutions.
- Monitoring network operations and configurations to identify opportunities to improve security and network performance.
- Reviewing and evaluating work products, methods, and procedures, and identifies and resolves problems.
- Developing and implements system improvements to enhance secure operating efficiencies.
- Identifying equipment requirements and develops specifications for secure enterprise network designs.
What we are looking for:
- Graduation from a recognized educational institution in electronics, data networking, telecommunications, or
- Graduation from an equivalent formal education program and relevant technological experience
- Cisco CCNA or equivalent technical certifications preferred
- Fifteen (15) or more years of prior pertinent and progressive technical experience in an IT Network Analyst or similar role to gain design-related expertise with IT Infrastructure technologies.
- Understanding of CNL-specific practices and processes.
- Lead and direct the work of subordinate personnel
- Configure and install local area, wide area, and wireless networks;
- Evaluate network performance problems and develop cost-effective solutions;
- Troubleshoot complex network operating and maintenance problems;
- Manage and support CNL’s local area, wide area and wireless networks;
- Analyze and assess cost effectiveness of system improvements and enhancements;
- Integrate LAN, WAN, and security and management tools into an enterprise solution;
- Multitask with a strong attention to detail and shift from one project to another when priorities change;
- Train staff, users and others, as needed
- Prioritize complex and demanding workloads and team schedules
- Prepare and present comprehensive and clear reports and recommendations;
- Manage multiple projects involving personnel from several departments, as well as consultants and vendors;
- Organize work and manage time effectively;
- Work irregular hours, weekends, and holidays including on call (24/7/365);
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
- Incorporates industry best practices and new technology into CNL’s network infrastructure (e.g. next-gen firewalls, cloud networking, VPN technologies, etc.)
- Thorough understanding of the operational characteristics of local area, wide area, and wireless computer network systems;
- Data communication and network principles;
- Methods and techniques used in data processing;
- Methods and techniques used in local area, wide area, and wireless network design;
- Principles and practices of maintaining and managing networks;
- Advanced computer network troubleshooting techniques;
- Principles and practices of network security;
- Methods and techniques for analyzing a variety of network operation and maintenance problems and concerns;
- Diagnostic utilities used in a multi-platform environment;
- Work planning and project management techniques;
- Principles and practices of lead supervision and training.
- Leads larger-scale multidisciplinary project teams for periods of long-duration.
- Communicates with vendors as part of a Project Team during the evaluation and vendor selection phase of new network hardware/software.
- Works closely with vendors during the installation phase to identify and document potential problems, and their solution
- ITIL Foundations Certified
Security clearance eligibility required: Level 2 Secret which has a minimum requirement of 7 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, United States and/or the United Kingdom. Location of Work – Hybrid
- This role is based out of CNL’s Chalk River site, however, subject to the terms of this agreement, the primary work location will be remote. The role will require some regular and frequent attendance at the Chalk River site. The schedule and frequency will be determined by discussions with the manager as well as internal client and project needs. CNL may require travel from time to time, as necessary.
