Natural Gas Quantitative Analyst

We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical Natural Gas Quantitative Analyst to join our trading and fundamentals team. The ideal candidate will have experience in energy markets with specific expertise in quantitative modeling, data analysis, time series analysis and advanced Python programming. This role will play a key part in supporting and developing trading strategies, developing forecast models, and generating actionable insights through large and complex datasets.

Responsibilities:

• Develop, maintain, and enhance quantitative models for forecasting natural gas prices, demand, and supply dynamics.
• Analyze historical and real-time data (e.g., flows, weather, storage, pipeline constraints) to identify patterns and trading opportunities
• Monitor and interpret market fundamentals and regulatory developments affecting natural gas markets.
• Integrate third-party data sources into internal models and analytical platforms and dashboards.
• Build a culture of responsible finance, good governance and supervision, expense discipline and ethics.
• Automate data pipelines and trading signals using Python and SQL.
• Coordinate with desk analysts/traders as needed and with sales to develop the franchise.
• Be familiar with and adhere to Citi’s Code of Conduct and the Plan of Supervision for Global Markets and Securities Services.
• Adhere to all policies and procedures as defined by your role which will be communicated to you.
• Obtain and maintain all registrations/licenses which are required for your role, within the appropriate timeframe.

Qualifications:

• 3–5 years of experience in a quantitative role focused on natural gas or broader energy markets.
• Advanced proficiency in Python, including pandas, numpy, scikit-learn, and data visualization libraries.
• Experience working with large datasets, APIs, and relational databases (SQL).
• Familiarity with U.S. natural gas infrastructure, hubs (e.g., Henry Hub), and market participants.
• Strong understanding of time series analysis, statistical modeling, and machine learning techniques.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

Education:

• Bachelor’s/University degree, Master’s degree preferred.

Primary Location Full Time Salary Range:

$175,000.00 – $250,000.00
