Job Title: National Referral Mechanism CoordinatorSalary: The starting salary is £33,348, which includes allowances totalling £2,841.The salary is broken down as £30,507 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £32,639 Plus, a location allowance of £1,841 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.Location: VauxhallThis is an exciting time to be working as an National Referral Mechanism (NRM) Coordinator for the Metropolitan Police Service. In addition to large-scale transformation, there’s the unique and ever-evolving challenge of policing London.This means that as an NRM Co-ordinator there are more opportunities for you to get involved with making London the safest global city in a time of unprecedented change within the UK’s largest Police Service.Job RoleThe National Referral Mechanism supports victims of modern slavery and trafficking offences, including child exploitation and exploitation offences overseas.The role of the National Referral Mechanism (NRM) Coordinator is vital in overseeing all NRM’s within the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS).The NRM coordinator will act as a gatekeeper between the Home Office, other forces, internally with the Crime Reporting Investigation Bureau and officers involved in criminal investigations.The role is largely administration based due to its nature, but decision making is required to direct and redirect referrals that land with the MPS from the Single Competent Authority (SCA) within the Home Office.The NRM Co-ordinator will liaise with the SCA and the case officers to ensure that the NRM process and the police investigations are co-ordinated.The role holder will manage the volume of referrals and help to develop their skills to ensure a robust process is in place.At present, the MPS receives close to 40% of all national referrals; volumes continue to be high at several thousand per year.The role forms part of a small team who sit within Central Specialist Crime.The main location is at Cobalt Square in Vauxhall, but occasional meetings and working from other parts of London are required. Travel to other locations will be infrequent.Key Responsibilities
VettingThis post requires access to the most sensitive intelligence material on a daily basis. Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo Managed Vetting (MV) before commencing the role.Additionally, this material is of particular sensitivity to the UK and its distribution must be restricted to UK nationals. In approved circumstances dual nationals (of which one element is British) may also be granted access. However, in the event that potential conflicts of interest cannot be managed the post holder will not be able to see the intelligence material and will not be able to perform their duties.
