This is a great job for anyone who wants to help protect local water in Southeast Michigan by joining a group of dedicated advocates for the Huron River. We are looking to add a strategic, creative communicator to our team who can support our brand and inspire people to take action.
The Marketing and Outreach Coordinator for HRWC serves as a member of a three-person marketing team, supporting organization-wide communications strategies that further HRWC’s brand and goals across a wide range of marketing and communications channels. They also support public education and outreach efforts for assigned projects, including the impacts of stormwater runoff; promoting green stormwater infrastructure techniques and shoreline best practices; restoration projects that prepare the watershed for climate change; and recreational access to the river. These projects aim to inspire targeted audiences to take action by raising awareness of watersheds and water quality issues, increasing audience engagement, and changing attitudes or behaviors to prevent or reduce pollution.
The Marketing and Outreach Coordinator is familiar with integrated multi-channel marketing and communications principles and understands social marketing and behavior change concepts. They use creative strategies and techniques to achieve measurable results. They create strategic, impactful multimedia content using their design, copywriting, and video skills, as well as their knowledge of integrated marketing.

Compensation & Pay Transparency
The starting salary for this position is $60,205 and is non-negotiable. HRWC is committed to pay equity, and all staff are hired at established rates. Employees receive an annual cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) of 2.5%, applied consistently across the organization. Additionally, staff are eligible for merit-based promotions, which carry an average salary increase of approximately 10% and are typically awarded every four to six years based on performance and organizational need.
Benefits
HRWC supports a hybrid work environment with the ability to work both remotely and from HRWC’s offices in Ann Arbor, MI. HRWC staff are expected to be office-based a minimum of three days/week.

The Huron River Watershed Council (HRWC) is a nonprofit nonpartisan coalition of watershed residents, businesses, and local governments. HRWC is the oldest regional river protection organization in Michigan with a mission to protect and restore the river for healthy and vibrant communities.
