Marine Biology Instructor and Trip Leader – Summer 2027

Broadreach Adventures, LLC is hiring Marine Biology Academic instructors to lead international summer programs for teens. Instructors will lead facilitated study abroad programs focused on marine biology, scuba diving and conservation. Instructors will mentor students, lead academic components and accompany students on dives.

Instructors mentor and supervise a group of students as they travel to different locations and interact with local outfitters. Broadreach is based in Raleigh, NC and our programs take place internationally. Program locations include Saint Martin, Curacao, Fiji and Mexico. Instructors will be placed in specific program locations, based on skills and experience. 

Instructors will attend a week of staff training and then lead programs in June, July and August, 2027.

Responsibilities Include: 

• Lead a college level course for high schools, and deliver content through lectures and guided discussions.
• Assist with collecting research data and provide context to students as they observe local outfitters.
• Issuing and grading assignments like journal entries, research presentations, midterms and finals.
• Managing mental health and physical  safety of a group of 8-12 students.
• Supervise students in a 24/7 setting, eat meals with students and assist with other program components.

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree or PhD in marine science or a related field of study, is required.
• Ability to teach a college-level marine science course using experiential education methodologies, hands-on activities, field research, labs, surveys and demonstrations.
• Experience mentoring youth groups and managing group dynamics.
• Scuba diving experience (Advance Open Water certified or higher)
• Comfortable living and working in a group environment with more rustic living conditions. E.g camp, hostel, liveaboard boat.
