The Managing Editor is the senior journalistic leader and drives the editorial strategy for the station.This person will develop, implement and oversee short and long range objectives for regular daily storytelling, pilots, short-term projects and news specials, ensuring they’re developed with an integrated multi-platform approach and serve audiences looking for audio, video and text-based content. This person will also collaborate with other leaders and units across CBC to maximize the impact of our journalism.The ideal candidate is a strategic leader who is laser focused on audience needs and has a proven track record of driving change. The Managing Editor executes strategies for building meaningful relationships with new audiences through smart journalism, thoughtful storytelling and community outreach. The Managing Editor will hire, inspire, mentor, support and develop staff, ensuring the team, like the city it serves, reflects a wide range of experiences and perspectives. This inclusive leader will work with a team focused on service, strong communication, shared goals, accountability and results.The Managing Editor is accountable to the public for all of CBC Toronto’s journalism and will answer complaints to the Ombudsman regarding the station’s coverage. This person will ensure that all CBC journalistic standards are met and that our stories and our programs are fair, balanced, accurate, thoughtful, and intelligent.
