Purpose of the Job
This position is responsible for planning, managing and overseeing the activities and operations of the Environmental Services team to include Linen Services, Guest Services and Ridgeview’s Environmental and Waste Management programs.
Job Functions
1. Provides leadership and oversight of all Environmental Services operations, programs and services. Develops programs, goals and objectives consistent with those of the organization’s overall strategic plan and initiatives.
- Supports department Director in the developing operational and capital budgets, manages operating expenses and key indicators within the budget. Develops, implements, coordinates, monitors, evaluates and integrates programs and initiatives that contribute to the overall success and financial viability of Environmental Services.
- Plans, supports and leads quality improvement efforts consistent with RMC process improvement methods.
- Manages staff resources by overseeing the recruiting, selecting, hiring and orienting qualified individuals. Evaluates staff performance in an accurate, consistent, objective and timely manner. Develops core position hiring strategies and ensures opportunities for professional development. Creates a cohesive Environmental Services team committed to providing servicequality to all customers.
- Develops and monitors applicable policies and procedures. Ensures compliance with local, state and federal regulatory agency standards.
- May participate on hospital and medical staff committees and serve as a professional resource for physicians, clinicians and leadership. May also collaborate with physicians and clinicians regarding Environmental Services programs and services. May represent Environmental Services and Ridgeview Medical Center in community outreach including participationon committees and in doing presentations.
- Manages hazardous, infectious, general waste and recycling programs in compliance with local, state and federal regulatory agencies. (MPCA,CDC, etc.)
- Manage all off site contract agreements for cleaning, pest control, window cleaning, infectious waste, hazardous waste, general waste and recycling.
- Maintains and ensures all regulatory requirements are met with Minnesota Department of health, CDC and DNV.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum education/Work experience
* High School graduate of equivalent
* 5+ years of leadership experience in a healthcare environment
Knowledge/Skills and Abilities
* Demonstrated ability to lead and develop team
* Ability to meet and maintain the necessary background checks as aligned with position functions
* Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above
* Excellent communication and influencing skills and ability to build strong working relationships at all levels
* Assures excellent service with a high degree of urgency to internal and external customers
* Systemic thinking when contemplating and implementing change
* Proficient use of Microsoft Office software Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above
* Knowledge of hazardous waste and infectious waste regulations and processes
License/Certifications
* Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Professional (CHESP) – preferred, not required.

* Bachelor’s Degree
* CPR Certification

Many factors are taken into consideration when determining compensation such as: the requirements of the position, experience, education, knowledge, and skills along with location and internal equity. Pay listed does not include any shift, weekend, or other differentials.
