About the role📍 UK Wide | 🔌 Power T&D Team | 🏗 Balfour BeattyAre you an experienced Overhead Lines Technician (LE3) looking for a rewarding career with a leading infrastructure provider? Balfour Beatty is hiring skilled professionals to install and maintain high-voltage overhead power transmission lines across various UK locations.🔹 The Role:As an Overhead Lines Technician – LE3, you will:
✔ Install, maintain, and repair high-voltage overhead transmission lines
✔ Ensure all work meets the highest safety, quality, and productivity standards
✔ Work within a specialist team to deliver essential power infrastructure projects
✔ Follow strict health & safety regulations to maintain a zero-harm environmentWhat you’ll be doing

• To assist in the install, build and refurbish overhead power lines up to 400kV

• Maintain and develop new skills and competencies in accordance with Balfour

Beatty standards and legislative changes

• Carry out all work in accordance with the standards, policies and procedures

of Balfour Beatty and its clients

• Work as part of a team to ensure the safe, effective and efficient

implementation of Balfour Beatty operations

• Maintain site safety at all times and complete daily risk assessments where

required

• Conform to all instructions stated in method statements and risk assessments

• Ensure that accidents and near misses are suitably reported

• Complete all work to Balfour Beatty high quality standards

Demonstrate knowledge of:

• Earthing

• Piloting work

• Platforms

• Running out conductors

• Clamping in

• Blocking out

• Jumpering

• Spacering

• Jointing

• Downleads

To demonstrate correct use of:

• PPE

• Rope and knots

• Fittings assemble

• Pull-lifts

• Tirfors

• Blocks

• Bonds and slings

• Clamps

• Toggles

• Hand tools

• Protection systems – fall arrest

• Permanent attachment

• Demarcation

• Climbing

• Spacer trolley

• Lifting and lowering

• Stockings and J Stops

• Understand the site specific risk assessments to ensure all known risks are

controlled.

• Understand and use the safe systems of work to be employed at the work site.

• Only operate plant with the correct authorisation and training.

• Wear the correct PPE at all times and use any specific PPE as required or

instructed.

• Ensure that accidents and incidents are promptly reported to the Foreman

• Apply appropriate earthing schemes to dissipate induced voltages

Who we’re looking forThe following qualities/experience are essential:

• Full clean driving licence

• Ability to work in a team

• Good verbal and written communication skills

• Able to undertake work in high pressure situations

• Flexibility – Willing to travel and work across the UK

• Aptitude for working at heights

• Responsibility – a strong attitude towards health and safety

The following qualities/experience are desirable:

• Experience of working on a variety of construction project types.

• Knowledge of the Power industry (is an advantage)

• Valid Plant Tickets (will be an advantage)

• OHL Authorisations (will be an advantage)

• Emergency First Aid at Work
