Part-time lecturer (70%)
The Department of Forest Resources Management in the Faculty of Forestry & Environmental Stewardship at UBC Vancouver campus invites applications for a part-time (70%) Lecturer position to be involved in the teaching and coordination of credit and non-credit courses.
The lecturer will coordinate and lead instruction in a number of core courses in the Faculty of Forestry & Environmental Stewardship including forest ecology, classifications, silvics, silviculture. Other relevant ecological topics including plant biology and soil science. Teaching will include highly varied formats and include for credit classroom-based lectures, seminars and project work in partner universities and research institutes outside Canada. In addition, teaching will include not for credit micro-certificates on a range of forestry related topics in particular silviculture theory and practice and monitoring systems and stand improvement. The lecturer will also assist in mentoring and advising individual student on sites.
Required Qualifications:
The lecturer must have a PhD in the field of forest ecology and two or more years of relevant instructional experience is required. Experience with curriculum development, teaching and mentoring students, and excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, are required. A demonstrated interest in innovative teaching methods is required as well as experience in higher education pedagogy, course development including learning management systems, project management, scientific writing and public outreach.
Intensive travel and teaching in partner universities in Asia Pacific region especially China are required for this position. Ability to deal with students, faculty members and other stakeholders in a multi-cultural context and work under pressure. Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
The appointment will start on April 1, 2026, although an alternate start date can be negotiated. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. This position is for one year. All appointments are subject to budgetary approval.

This position is 70% full-time equivalent (28 hours per week). The expected salary range is $55,000 to 60,637 based on 28 hours per week.
