We are looking for a dynamic and proactive Junior Legal Counsel to join our team and provide legal support across the Virgin Group. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on a diverse range of legal matters, with a particular emphasis on Virgin Red, our global loyalty programme.As Junior Legal Counsel, you will contribute to a variety of legal tasks across the Virgin Group. You will focus primarily on Virgin Red, handling partnership contracts, commercial agreements, and advisory needs across multiple sectors.   • Provide high-quality legal support across Virgin Group businesses, collaborating with teams including Business Development, Partnerships, Procurement, Brand, Communications, HR, and IT.
  • Draft and negotiate Virgin Points partnerships for the Virgin Red programme across multiple sectors and territories. Advise on consumer law, regulatory matters, and all aspects of loyalty programme operations.
  • Handle diverse legal matters including partnerships, technology contracts, supplier agreements, advertising, marketing, content distribution, consumer rights, employment law, and general commercial issues.
  • Support data privacy compliance across all business activities, working with the Data Protection Officer where necessary, given the data-driven nature of the business.
  • Collaborate with product and customer experience teams to ensure legal and regulatory compliance in product and UX design. Work cross-functionally to integrate legal considerations into product development.
  • Assist Virgin Unite (our charitable founcation) associated charities with grant arrangements, partnerships, fundraising, and advocacy. Support Virgin Start Up (empowering UK entrepreneurs) with partnership agreements, platforms, regulatory advice, and commercial contracts.
  • Manage legal aspects of specific projects, including cost-effective oversight of external legal advisers when required. Support dispute resolution and litigation processes as needed.
  • Stay informed on relevant legal developments, participate in knowledge sharing, and contribute to improving the legal function through implementation of efficient technologies and processes.

What you’ll need

  • Professional legal qualification, with in-house experience in TMT, FinTech, Loyalty, or similar commercial environments.
  • Excellent commercial legal skills with a commitment to continuous improvement and international business understanding.
  • Aptitude for applying legal knowledge to complex technologies and strong data protection law awareness.
  • Outstanding communication skills across all organisational levels, with a collaborative and proactive working style.
  • Enthusiasm for developing knowledge in new areas, such as employment law and charity/philanthropy law.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects effectively, meet deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
