Job Status– Full-Time / Project
Appointment Length– 18 months – January 1, 2026 – July 1, 2027
WDFW Program– Director’s Office – Communications and Public Engagement (CAPE)
Duty Station– Olympia, Washington – Thurston County
Hybrid/Telework- While this position may offer a telework option, the successful candidate must be available to report to the duty station a minimum of three (3) days per week.

Are you passionate about communications strategies to help teams stay informed, connected, and safe at work?
As an Internal Communications Consultant, you’ll play a key role in keeping staff across the agency up to date with clear, timely, and effective internal communications.
You’ll lead the development of the agency’s internal communications strategy, deliver important safety and wellness messages, and ensure employees have the information and resources they need to work confidently.
You’ll also advise on and implement strategies that enhance collaboration and coordination across programs and regions, giving staff and supervisors the critical information they need, when they need it.
What to Expect-
Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, the Internal Communications Consultant will,

Produce engaging content for internal communications:
Serve on safety committees and lead communications during emergency or high-profile internal incidents:
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work Setting, including hazards: Work is performed almost exclusively indoors in an office environment.
Schedule: This position is full-time, working 40 hours per week. The standard work schedule includes the potential for occasional evening or weekend work as needed. Alternative schedules may be considered based on business needs.
Travel Requirements: Occasional travel required.
Customer Interactions: Contact with internal and external customers/clients.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, journalism, public relations, or closely related field.
AND all of the following (experience may be gained concurrently):

Professional experience in information, journalism, or public relations may substitute for the required education on a year-by-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications:
In addition to the required qualifications, our ideal applicant will possess some or all the following:
