Position Purpose:

Responsible for overseeing and coordinating international mobility programs at the Faculty of Medicine, including international student and faculty mobility and the Enhancement Year program. The incumbent works collaboratively with various departments to ensure mobility programs activities align with the strategic vision of the Faculty of Medicine and the University’s objectives on internationalization and global health. Responsible for implementing program activities, managing resources, and monitoring program outcomes. Provides strategic advice and collaborates with stakeholders on inter-institutional student mobility agreements. Ensures the management of these agreements. Collaborates with the Senior Manager, Business Operations, and IGHO academic leaders in areas of strategic alignment and operational efficiency.

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Strategic Planning: Advise and guide on internal and external trends with regards to strategies and best practices that relate to student and faculty mobility as well as provide recommendations that aim to improve the experience of students and faculty members participating in incoming and outgoing mobility programs, particularly in the areas of engagement and intercultural adaptation. Work collaboratively with the Liaison, International Business Development to assess and prepare recommendations on the Faculty of Medicine’s involvement in inter-institutional student mobility agreements. Manage active agreements to ensure that they align with the Faculty of Medicine’s strategic vision and contribute to the achievement of internationalization objectives.
  • International Partnerships: Establish and maintain relationships with partner institutions and stakeholders to ensure the smooth execution of program activities and effective communication.
  • Outreach and Engagement: Promote the benefits of involvement in mobility programs, both incoming and outgoing. Provide training and act as a resource person to ensure adherence to policies on international electives in Postgraduate Medical Education (PGME) and Undergraduate Medical Education (UGME). Plan and implement recruitment strategies to attract and retain participants for the program in collaboration with key FoM departments and with uOInternational.
  • Policies and procedures: Participate in the development of program policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards, including overseeing initiatives and protocols related to international travel security.
  • Program Delivery: Collaborate with various departments to design, implement and evaluate international mobility programs. Manage the development and delivery of international mobility programs, ensuring they meet the needs of our participants and are aligned with the strategic objectives of the Faculty of Medicine. Work collaboratively with the Lead Coordinator, Academic Program Management on the development and implementation of wrap-around services for faculty members and learners before, during, and after their international education experience.
  • Budgeting: Participate in the development of program budgets and oversee budget planning for program activities, monitoring expenditures and ensuring they are within budgetary constraints. This will involve liaising with different departments to determine key program costs.
  • Monitoring, evaluation, and reporting: Create and manage program evaluation tools, collecting and analyzing feedback from participants and other relevant data to identify areas for program improvement.

Knowledge, Experience, Competencies, and Skills:

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as international relations, public health, or education or a combination of equivalent experience and studies.
  • 5 years of experience in program development, management, and evaluation, preferably in an international context.

  • Knowledge and experience working within a medical education environment, as well as an understanding of all aspects of the university environment, including academic programs, admissions, registration procedures and student services.
  • Experience in the development and implementation of new projects and skills in short and medium term planning, setting performance indicators and taking action to achieve objectives.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Abilities in developing and monitoring budgets, as well as overall financial planning.
  • Proactive, autonomous, and able to work with limited supervision.
  • Knowledge of program evaluation techniques and data analysis.
  • Ease of use and learning new technologies, strong abilities in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, etc.)
  • Ability and willingness to work outside of regular business hours or on weekends for special events.
  • Bilingualism essential in French and English.
