You’ll rotate through exciting placements that are designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge you need to succeed. Experience the hands-on work across our Nuclear new build sites.We’re committed to your growth, offering a tailored training path to enhance your skills and knowledgeYou’ll contribute to different projects throughout the programme and here are some examples of work our recent I&C graduates have completed:

  • Developing human-machine interfaces for power station operators at Hinkley Point C
  • Reviewing the design of replacement protection equipment on our existing nuclear fleet
  • Developing the technical and safety justifications for power station equipment to extend its life or change its operational regime
  • Hands-on trouble-shooting with site technical teams
  • Supporting software assurance and cyber security reviews and audits

Our Science and Engineering Programme also includes protected training time for courses covering nuclear fundamentals, EPR (European Pressurised Reactor) systems, communications and health & safety.Our programme is accredited with a number of professional institutions, and we’ll support you to gain chartership with the relevant professional body:

  • Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET)
  • Institute of Mathematics and its Applications (IMA)
  • Institute of Physics (IoP)
  • The Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE)
  • The Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE)
  • Institute for Environmental Management & Assessment (IEMA)
  • Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE)
  • The Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC)

You’ll have mentors and industry experts to give you advice along the way and help you with decisions about your future career path.During your training period, the main locations you could be based at are:

  • Gloucester Business Park, Gloucester
  • Hinkley Point C, Bridgwater
  • Aztec West Bristol
  • Satellite Development Centres (SDC) Bridgwater
  • Sizewell C, Suffolk

Please note this programme is rotational in its nature, so you will be required to move around. But don’t worry – we’ve got you covered with practical and financial support every step of the way.

Post the Training period, you will have an opportunity to be offered a permanent role as a Standard I&C Engineer at Hinkley Point C power plant having the responsibility of supporting Operational I&C Design modification and Validations during the life cycle of the plant. Some of the responsibilities would include:
  • Delivering HPC to the best possible safety, quality, time, and cost standards: high level of engineering during day-to-day operations
  • Supporting and assisting the commissioning and configuration team on impact assessment of modifications impacting Standard I&C
  • Support V&V team during functional validation test
  • Develop strong relationships with system designers located either on-site or back office for any clarification requested during activities
