DBHDS operates 12 facilities: 8 behavioral health facilities for adults, a training center, a psychiatric facility for children and adolescents, a medical center, and a center for behavioral rehabilitation. State facilities provide highly structured, intensive services for individuals with mental illness, intellectual disability, or need substance use disorder services. DBHDS is committed to a life of possibilities for all Virginians. This position will work at Southern Virginia Mental Health Institute, a 72-bed Joint Commission accredited State Mental Health Facility, located in Danville, VA.The candidate for this position will maintain acceptable sanitation standards daily in any given area to provide a clean and safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors at Southern Virginia Mental Health Institute. Duties will include a variety of housekeeping tasks to include: cleaning, vacuuming, floor buffing, dusting, emptying trash cans, sweeping, and supplying bathrooms.This position requires: willing and able to work in a fast-paced, behavioral health environment cleaning bathrooms, patient rooms, nursing areas, and other spaces; a quick learner and able to follow directions; ability to take the initiative to complete tasks with minimum supervision after receiving training.Minimum QualificationsMust be able to read and follow written instructions.
Current CHEST certification or the ability to become CHEST certified within one year of employment is required.Additional ConsiderationsExperience as a housekeeper in a psychiatric healthcare facility, acute care, long-term or correctional setting.
