Position: RN / LPN
Rate: $40 – $45/hr
Location: Federal Way, WA
Shift: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM Monday to Friday
Placement: 21-week ContractPosition Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to support the health and well-being of students within a school setting. The ideal candidate will provide essential medical care, administer medications, and collaborate with educational staff to ensure students’ health needs are met. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while following physician-directed care plans.Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor and support the medical needs of students with health conditions, promoting independence where possible.
• Administer prescribed medications and perform medical procedures as directed by healthcare providers.
• Provide first aid and emergency care in alignment with established health protocols and school policies.
• Maintain accurate and confidential health records per regulatory and school guidelines.
• Assist with student health screenings and document results.
• Educate students on health and wellness topics, encouraging preventive care and safe practices.
• Collaborate with school personnel, families, and healthcare professionals to ensure a supportive health environment for students.
• Uphold ethical and legal standards related to student health information and care.
• Support additional nursing duties as required under state regulations and school policies.

Required Skills & Knowledge:

• Understanding of school health policies and procedures.
• Ability to administer medications and document care appropriately.
• Experience with respiratory treatments, blood glucose monitoring, and other medical protocols.
• Capacity to provide specialized care, including gastrostomy, catheterization, and seizure management.
• Strong communication skills to collaborate with students, parents, and school staff effectively.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding student health information.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while remaining calm under pressure.
• Proficiency in basic computer applications for record-keeping and communication.

Qualifications:

• Completion of an accredited nursing program meeting state licensure requirements.
• Ability to work scheduled hours consistently.
• Successful completion of a criminal background check.
• Valid and current Washington State RN or LPN license
• CPR/First Aid Certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross preferred).
• Requires frequent standing, walking, bending, and occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
• Possible exposure to infectious illnesses and unpredictable student behavior.
• May require protective gloves and masks as needed.
• Work is primarily indoors but may include occasional outdoor responsibilities in varying weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with children or individuals with special healthcare needs.
• Familiarity with diverse student populations and cultural competency.
