Job Duties/Scope Of Work

At Central Plateau Cleanup Company (CPCCo), located in Richland, Washington, we are working to provide a sustainable future for the historic Hanford area through the protection of the Columbia River and the remediation of the Central Plateau. To achieve our mission, we need exceptionally talented, innovative, and driven people to help us reduce risks on the Hanford Site by removing some of the most hazardous waste streams and facilities in the Department of Energy (DOE) complex. A day in the life of a Hazardous Waste Shipper includes, but is not limited to:
* Provide support for transportation logistics and compliant shipping of hazardous, radioactive, and mixed materials and wastes on and off of the Hanford site. Compliance to applicable DOT regulations, Hanford Site Transportation Safety Document, and DOE Orders.
* Interpret DOT regulations, Hanford Site Transportation Safety Document, and DOE Orders.
* Provide guidance and oversight for loading, handling, segregation, and securement of loads.
* Determines containers and conveyance marking, labeling, and placarding requirements.
* Calculates radionuclide and other hazardous material inventories for packages and conveyance.
* Determines proper shipping names for packages.
* Prepares documentation required to ship hazardous/radioactive materials and wastes.
* Performs a DOT compatibility review for Waste Management Representatives.
* Inspects containers/packages for condition and proper marking and labeling prior to shipment.
* Assists Waste Management Representatives in the proper selection of containers for waste packaging.
* Provide guidance as required for the proper selection of conveyance type for shipments.
* Escort shipments, as required by the Transportation Safety Document.
* Provide peer reviews to other CPCCo shippers of shipment documentation.
Basic Qualifications
Career Level Grade 17: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience with 6 or more years of relevant experience
Senior Level Grade 18: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience with 8 or more years of relevant experience
The higher posted level has greater scope, complexity, authority, impact. The level offered to the selected candidate will be based on the needs of the company and the candidate’s education, training, and/or experience.
Desired Qualifications
* Current certification as a Certified DOT Shipper.
* Current or past completion of the Certified DOT Shipper qualification card.
* Advanced Mixed Waste shipper certification and Radiological Worker 1 or 2.
Compensation & Benefits
In accordance with the CPCCo salary determination process, CPCCo takes into consideration the level of assigned job duties and responsibilities, and the candidate’s education, training, and/or experience relative to internal peers and the external labor market. CPCCo will not solicit salary history for candidates.
Expected annualized pay range based on full time schedule (40 hours per week):
Career Level Grade 17: $86,200- $137,650
Senior Level Grade 18: $94,750 – $151,800
In addition to base pay, employees may be eligible for variable pay awards.
