We are currently looking for GIS Team Leader to support the GIS practice in our Environment & Geosciences team on the East Coast of Australia. This position sits in Stantec’s GIS and Spatial team, assisting with internal and external GIS support, data management and geospatial analysis.This opportunity will provide leadership to the local team to ensure alignment to company strategy, initiatives, vision, and culture. The successful candidate will be the advocate of the business both internally within Stantec and externally to clients and professional organization.This role can be based in any of our offices along the East Coast including Sydney, Wollongong, Melbourne, Brisbane or Canberra.   • Lead and mentor a small team of highly skilled GIS specialists.
  • Lead and execute all facets of GIS projects, including technical and non-technical aspects.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate GIS solutions into broader organizational workflows.
  • Provide technical support to the GIS team and broader business.
  • Liaise with internal and external subject matter experts.
  • Participate in core spatial tasks such as production of cartographic figures, spatial database management, production / QAQC of spatial data deliverables, and adhoc GIS support to Stantec staff.
  • Ensure allocated projects and proposals are planned, programmed and appropriately managed to meet or exceed client expectations.
  • Develop and create GIS solutions to aid stakeholders, clients, and other users in understanding the relationships, patterns and trends of geospatial information.
  • Initiate and manage geospatial business development opportunities, actively participate in and lead client service through establishing and maintaining strong relationships
  • Develops a presence in the market with reputation and client relationships to help position for future work.
  • Coordinate resource and technical development requirements with Practice Leaders, Technical Discipline Leaders and other Team Leaders based both locally and in other Australian Offices.
  • Lead and/or review proposals for pricing, approach and methodology, variation estimates and submission documents, and review and evaluate subconsultant tender response submissions to ensure suitability.

**To be successful for this role you’ll need to:**

  • Qualification in GIS, Geology, Geography, Geomatics, Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
  • 7 years’ experience working (preferably consultancy).
  • Experience working with GIS platforms, the ESRI software suite including ArcGIS Desktop, Portal for ArcGIS, and ArcGIS Online.
  • Experience creating online tools using ArcGIS Online Essential Apps and Field Apps.
  • FME and visual programming fundamentals for data manipulation is desirable.
  • Have a passion to learn and develop new skills.
  • Be interested in troubleshooting and problem-solving.
  • Enjoy working with stakeholders and be customer and client focused.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
