FISHERIES/WILDLIFE BIOLOGIST I – position #K0213326

This unclassified, full-time position, within the Wildlife Division, is located in the Colby District Office and is directly supervised by the District Wildlife Biologist.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assists with development, coordination and implementation of the federal and state private lands habitat programs within a nine-county district.
  • Contracts land for Walk-In Hunting Access (WIHA), VPA, HACH, and Special Hunts on Private Lands within the district.
  • Additional duties include providing wildlife habitat technical and financial assistance through the Department’s Habitat First program, addressing wildlife disease and animal damage issues, and working with various groups, agencies, NGO’s and other partners to maximize wildlife habitats within the given counties.
  • Provides information and education for the general public.

Minimum Requirements: 

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Two years of relevant technical experience in an environmental field and/or program.
  • Candidates with a Bachelor’s Degree in fisheries science/management or wildlife science/management are strongly preferred.
  • A valid driver’s license and the ability to pass a background check are required.
