Become a Campus Organizer
As a Campus Organizer, you’ll be at the forefront of building a brighter future for all of us – protecting our remaining wildlife and wild places, tackling the plastic waste crisis, moving states and communities to 100% clean energy, helping students register and make plans to vote, and more. We believe the best place to start making the changes we want, and to develop the leaders we need, is on college campuses. We’re hiring campus organizers to work on over 100 college campuses to help students get organized, mobilized and energized and start building a greener, healthier future for all of us.
Key Responsibilities
As a campus organizer, you’ll work with one or more college campuses alongside passionate student activists as you help them develop and run strategic campaigns on some of the biggest issues our society is facing. Key responsibilities include:
- Recruiting and inspiring hundreds of students to take action.
- Helping students run strategic campaigns. Campus organizers will recruit and train students to run campaigns such as eliminating single-use plastics, protecting our remaining wildlife and special places, making college more affordable, and more.
- Building a coalition. Campus organizers work with student volunteers and interns to build a diverse, invested coalition of organizations.
- Training students to be effective social change leaders, using skills such as generating grassroots support and coordinating lobby days and news conferences.
- Building a strong, sustainable, student-funded and student-run organization on campus by fundraising, building relationships with key players on campus, and building our organizational brand.
- Running a citizen outreach office during the summer, where you’ll recruit and lead a team of canvassers to fundraise for important issues and help build critical, timely grassroots support to win key campaigns. You may be assigned to a different office location for the summer and should be flexible to move.

We believe in the power of young people to build a better world. From civil rights to protecting the environment, students are often at the forefront of movements to build a better future for our country. The Student PIRGs have been working for over 50 years to amplify the power of student activism, and help students make real change, right now. Our chapters and clubs on college campuses across the country provide the training, professional support and resources students need to tackle climate change, protect public health, revitalize our democracy, feed the hungry and more. We all want to live meaningful lives in a world that’s greener and healthier, so we help students get organized, mobilized, and energized to make that vision a reality.
