Job Description

An Environmental Specialist is responsible for ensuring uninterrupted manufacturing operations through proactive environmental compliance, risk identification, regulatory engagement, and timely execution of critical Environmental programs. The role supports semiconductor manufacturing operations by ensuring compliance with environmental regulations governing air emissions, wastewater treatment, hazardous waste management, and chemical handling.

This position works closely with manufacturing, facilities, engineering, operations, and corporate EHS teams to minimize environmental risk, maintain regulatory compliance, and support safe and reliable fab operations.

This Job Is For You If
  • You can ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations (e.g., 40 CFR, 30 TAC) related to air emissions, hazardous waste, wastewater, stormwater, and chemical management.
  • You can proactively identify compliance risks, operational vulnerabilities, and permitting gaps, and escalate issues early to management with clear mitigation plans.
  • You can maintain accurate environmental records, emissions inventories, permit tracking systems, and regulatory submissions to ensure timely and compliant reporting
  • You can oversee hazardous waste management, hazardous material shipping, and Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) programs.
  • You can manage air compliance programs including stack testing, Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR), greenhouse gas (GHG) monitoring, and criteria pollutant tracking.
  • You can monitor wastewater treatment systems and implement Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP).
  • You can lead regulatory inspections and agency interactions with professionalism, technical competence, and strong preparation.
  • You can conduct facility audits and inspections of chemical storage, waste accumulation, and environmental control systems.
  • You can investigate environmental incidents, determine root causes, and drive timely corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
  • You can coordinate effectively across operations, facilities, engineering, production, and corporate EHS teams to ensure alignment and execution of environmental priorities.
  • You can develop and maintain environmental procedures, standards, and training programs to ensure ongoing compliance and operational readiness.
  • You can prepare and submit environmental reports including Toxic Release Inventory (TRI), Tier II, emissions inventories, and Discharge Monitoring Reports.
  • You can implement programs that minimize environmental risk, business interruption, and operational impact.
  • You can manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining high accuracy, responsiveness, and attention to detail.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Occupational Safety and Health, or a related field required.
  • Minimum 5 years of environmental compliance experience, preferably within semiconductor manufacturing or other highly regulated industrial operations.
  • Extensive knowledge of environmental regulations, permitting requirements, and regulatory reporting.
  • Experience managing environmental compliance programs related to air, waste, water, and hazardous materials.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and project management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and environmental tracking/reporting systems.
  • Ability to conduct inspections in manufacturing and industrial environments.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds as needed.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and work on a computer for extended periods as required by the role.

Compensation:$106,000/year – $124,000/year
