Read further to learn how you could help make great things possible not only in your community, but around the world.HDR has a growing team within Saskatchewan and is looking to hire two Environmental Scientist 1’s to help support various projects within our Environment Science and Planning (ES&P) Group. Our team is made up of Environmental professionals, with experience in aquatics, soils, contaminated sites, wildlife vegetation, wetlands and ecology with abundant local knowledge and experience within the environmental consulting field. We work for a variety of sectors and clients, across Saskatchewan and Canada; as a global company we also have projects worldwide. We are looking for highly motivated, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic staff to join our dynamic group of HDR biologists, scientists and engineers.The RoleReporting to local and regional environmental project managers, you will be involved in wildlife, vegetation, aquatics, and soils baseline programs. You will additionally be deployed as an environmental monitor to support clients on linear construction projects.
- Participate in environmental baseline studies, environmental assessment, reporting and field work as required.
- Environmental monitoring on linear projects throughout Saskatchewan and Western Canada.
- Conduct desktop reviews of scientific literature and existing data for technical reporting.
- Learn and support permitting, and regulatory compliance related to the environmental field of study.
- Work collaboratively with HDR’s multidisciplinary teams.
- Participate in HDR health and safety programs.
- Travel to conduct field work. Extended field shifts will be required for this position.
Preferred Qualifications
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in the consulting field or related summer work between periods of education.
- Strong written and oral communication skills and attention to detail.
- The ability to work independently and with multidisciplinary teams.
- Knowledge of pertinent environmental regulations is an asset.
- Team player willing to do field work as required to help contribute to the success of HDR’s project teams. Ability to communicate with a wide range of people including management, regulatory agencies, clients, and the public.
- Any experience working in the oil and gas industry, remote work doing extended shifts or workdays is an asset.
- Eligibility for membership in a professional organization is an asset (e.g., P.Ag, P.Biol, APEGS)
- A valid class 5 driver’s license is required. Experience operating ATV’s, Snowmobiles and ARGO’s is an asset.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences or closely related field
- Knowledge of wetland delineation, field investigation techniques, and agency coordination requirements
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- MS Office experience
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
