The Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation is seeking to hire two versatile and driven candidates to join our team as Accessible Assistance Specialists (Environmental Analyst III) to assist underserved and overburdened Vermonters in accessing funding through the Agency of Natural Resources (ANR) Healthy Homes Initiative.
The Accessible Assistance Specialist will provide administrative support to projects that receive funding through the ANR Healthy Homes Initiative. The program provides financial assistance to residential property owners and manufactured housing communities (also known as mobile home parks) to repair or replace inadequate drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater systems.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
The ideal candidate has great attention to detail, strong time management skills, and the ability to balance multiple priorities. This role requires patience, excellent customer service, clear communication (both written and oral) and the ability to work independently and collaboratively with awardees, contractors, and other Department staff.
This position is a limited-service position, meaning that funding is approved for a term. Benefits and pay are identical to a permanent service position. The current term for the position is authorized until December 12, 2026.
This position, Environmental Analyst III – Healthy Homes Accessible Assistance Specialist – Limited Service (Job Requisition #54075), is open to all State employees and external applicants. It is a Limited Service position, which is non-tenured and authorized for a specific period of time. Limited Service positions are established for specially funded projects or programs.

Duties are largely performed in an office setting; however, some field travel may be necessary for which private means of transportation must be available. Field work may involve exposure to chemicals, gases, hazardous liquid and solid waste, construction sites during all weather conditions and may involve traversing rough terrain and bodies of water. Some work outside of regular working hours, including attendance at public meetings, may be required. Strong differences of opinion may be encountered on a regular basis.
Bachelor’s degree or higher in a biological-life or physical science, engineering, a social science, data science, or an environmental or natural resources field.
OR
Three (3) years or more of experience in an engineering, environmental, social science, data science, or natural resources field.
