Engineering Project ManagerWe are looking for a highly skilled Engineering Project Manager with experience of end-to-end project management, to join our Central Engineering Department. In this critical role, you will oversee the specification, design, delivery and execution of a wide array of complex capital projects, including capability enhancement initiatives and MOB Projects, spanning our entire business.As an accomplished Engineering Project Manager, your portfolio will encompass high-impact undertakings such as installing advanced equipment and replacing EOEL/property assets You will ensure all projects not only meet but exceed statutory requirements while being delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with strategic milestones.Reporting directly to the Head of Manufacturing Engineering, you will take full ownership of the project lifecycle, from concept development and design through to installation, rigorous testing, and successful completion. Your leadership will drive technical excellence, ensure seamless execution, and inspire the wider project team to achieve their full potential.You will demonstrate a proven track record in managing complex projects, exceptional organisational and technical expertise, and a results-oriented mindset. What will you be doing as an Engineering Project Manager:

  • Lead and manage manufacturing projects from initiation to completion, ensuring not only compliance with safety, health, and environmental legislation, but also fostering a culture of safety and responsibility.
  • Oversee project budgeting and timeline adherence and ensure all milestones, including product launch dates, are met.
  • Supervise multidisciplinary teams, including maintenance staff and external contractors, ensuring compliance with Howden’s standards and legal regulations.
  • Calculate and compare costs for required goods or services to achieve maximum value for money.
  • Plan for future development in line with strategic business objectives.
  • Conduct cost analyses for goods and services to ensure optimal value for money.
  • Collaborate with cross-site teams, lead project meetings, and develop mitigation plans as needed.

What do you need to qualify for the Engineering Project Manager:

  • A degree or equivalent experience in an Automated Engineering environment.
  • Experience in automated manufacturing.
  • SMSTS or IOSH with a CDM Background is required.
  • Knowledge of European Machinery Safety Standards and NEBOSH qualification (or willingness to attain).
  • Experience in designing and delivering auxiliary services to enable the safe and compliant running of manufacturing processes, such as, service distribution systems – Electrical, data, compressed air and LEV system services.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage budgets, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Strong decision maker who has a successful track record in Engineering and Project Management for a large organisation.
  • Track record of driving continuous improvement.
  • People Management and Relationship Skills, including Leadership, Cultural and Organisational Awareness.
  • Organisation and Strong Decision-Making Skills.
