Engineering Manager – Lead Software Innovation for Higher EducationAre you an engineering leader who thrives on building innovative, scalable solutions in the cloud? At Thesis, we’re searching for a hands-on Engineering Manager to drive the technical direction of our SaaS applications, hosted in Azure. Reporting directly to the CTO, you’ll be the bridge between architectural brilliance and team excellence, ensuring that our platform not only scales but excels.This isn’t just a management role-you’ll be technically hands on, with your head in the strategy, and your heart in growing a talented team of engineers.   • Lead, mentor, and manage a high-performing team of engineers focused on innovation, scalability, and performance optimization.
  • Collaborate with the CTO and product management to align the technical roadmap with the company’s overall product roadmap and long-term business strategy.
  • Think strategically and contribute to scalable architecture and technical solutions on Azure that support future growth while optimizing costs.
  • Ensure platform scalability and performance by making smart decisions around architecture, resource management, and infrastructure on Azure.
  • Oversee the entire product development lifecycle, ensuring the delivery of robust, scalable, and cost-efficient solutions, from concept to deployment.
  • Help shape the technical roadmap by identifying long-term technical challenges and opportunities, balancing short-term execution with long-term vision.
  • Chair the cross-functional Innovation Panel, driving discussions around POCs and short-term projects aimed at advancing the platform and winning critical sales bids.
  • Drive the adoption of best engineering practices, including continuous integration, automated testing, and DevOps, ensuring solutions are scalable, maintainable, and secure.
  • Facilitate technical discussions, design reviews, and provide hands-on support in solving complex technical challenges.
  • Ensure that the team is not just solving immediate problems but is designing systems that scale and fit into the bigger picture of the product’s evolution, with a focus on cost-effective scaling on Azure.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the company to align on timelines and priorities, ensuring the engineering team delivers value that supports business needs.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the engineering team.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies, identifying opportunities to incorporate them into the product pipeline, particularly for Azure-based solutions.
  • Manage resource planning, team structure, and skill development to support growth.

What You Bring to the Table

  • Extensive experience in software engineering, with solid experience in a leadership or management role.
  • Proven experience in designing and delivering scalable solutions for complex technical challenges in a SaaS environment, with a focus on Azure Cloud hosted environments.
  • Strong experience in managing the full software development lifecycle, including CI/CD pipelines, DevOps, and modern development practices (Agile, Scrum, etc.).
  • Expertise in designing and optimizing systems for performance and cost-effective scaling on Azure, utilizing the Microsoft Stack (.NET/.netcore).
  • Hands on experience with modern front end development frameworks e.g., ReactJS and Angular
  • Ability to think strategically and contribute to both product and technical roadmaps, aligning short-term execution with long-term vision.
  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams and driving discussions around POCs and innovation. You will have experience managing teams working on innovative products, proof of concepts, and prototypes
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to think about the bigger picture and how technical decisions fit into the product roadmap and overall business goals.
  • Proven track record of managing technical teams and delivering high-quality software products that balance business and technical needs.
  • Strong leadership skills with a passion for mentorship and team development.
  • Exceptional communication skills, capable of interacting with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of data privacy security protocols and compliance regulations
