What the role has to offer:

  • As an Engineering Environments Engineer (HPC) you will work as part of an agile development team, helping to build and support our High Performance Compute platform providing an outstanding experience for our engineering teams
  • You will be helping to build the next generation of Engineering Environments in the UK using modern deployment methods on a cloud based platform

Our opportunity:

Thales is transforming the way in which we deliver our tools to engineers. In this role you will be helping to build the next generation of Engineering Environments in the UK using modern deployment methods on a cloud based platform. We are looking for people from a broad range of engineering disciplines, so no matter your background we would love to hear from you.

Key tasks/Responsibilities:

  • Deploy and support industry leading tools on our High Performance Compute infrastructure
  • Maintain the High Performance Compute platform
  • Identify ways of improving our current processes and remedy through the use of automation
  • Ensure that operational best practices (supervision/monitoring, backups, archives, log management) are implemented. 
  • Support users in on boarding to the platform
  • Identify new opportunities within the business to utilise the platform

About you:

We recruit at many levels so we would be very interested to hear from you regardless of your length of experience.

Experience with below or similar is desirable but not essential:

  • Linux (RedHat, though other distributions will be considered)
  • Bright Cluster Manager or similar
  • Altair Access/PBS

Experience in any of the below is a plus:

  • Dell Isilion (OneFS)
  • BeeGFS
  • Matlab, Ansys or similar

Education and Qualifications:

Bachelors/Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or similar. Although relevant experience will be considered in lieu of this.

Security Clearance statement
