The Department employs over 600 personnel statewide, occupying six regional offices and headquarters based in Phoenix. The Department owns and operates ten shooting ranges, six fish hatcheries, thirty-eight jurisdictional dams, over thirty-six wildlife areas and numerous administrative and recreational sites statewide. The Engineer Services Manager is responsible for cultivating necessary structure, proficiency and performance of the Engineering Services section to support the capital development, engineering, construction and facilities maintenance needs of the Department. The Engineering Services Manager provides leadership, guidance and mentoring to engineering staff to promote successful outcomes within the section’s programmatic responsibilities, which comprise of Capital Development, Statewide Facilities Repair and Maintenance, AGFD Building Renewal Program, AGFD Dams Operations AGFD Boating Access Projects, and Maintenance Program, Lands and Infrastructure Improvements. The incumbent supervises an HQ facility manager and two professional engineers and establishes programmatic budgets and corresponding assignments for engineering staff, setting priorities and schedules for completion. Under the direction of the Engineering Services Manager engineering staff are authorized to administer independent project management on a variety of complex engineering and construction projects including budget control, contract development (planning and design), construction procurement, construction administration and environmental compliance. The Engineering Services section typically implements $8-10 million in capital, infrastructure and building renewal projects annually.

This position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job, and the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).
