Summary of Job Description:

The Energy Manager is responsible for utilities usage and cost-savings programs. This position oversees energy procurement, utilities consultant management, utility cost reduction, and energy management systems. The Energy Manager manages the new store utility account Application process. This position is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, piloting, and implementing gas, water, and electric and waste improvement technology. The Energy Manager provides input to design and construction to optimize the design and maintenance of stores from an engineering standpoint to enhance store functionality and energy use.This position may also be required to support the engineering function focused on improving the design and maintenance of Panda stores and equipment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversees energy procurement and conservation, utility cost reduction, and energy management systems.Seeks ways to reduce energy, water, sewage and trash costs at Panda stores.
  • Procures natural gas and electricity through supply agreements.Negotiates contracts to attain energy at the best possible rates. Manages all cost reduction possibilities related to utilities. Evaluates regulated utility rate class to ensure stores operate within the lowest cost rate structure the utility offers.
  • Researches and evaluates potential energy and water saving technologies, coordinating with other RD functions as appropriate.Proposes, plans, and implements energy saving programs as well as utility rebate opportunities.
  • Works closely with Operations and with Facilities Managers on utility and related issues.Supports Facilities Managers and GMs with problem resolution and with roll out of new technologies, systems, and equipment. Monitors for power outages and mitigates impact on business.
  • Manages all utility billing in coordination with bill pay vendor and Panda accounting. Supports utility level rebate procurement for equipment and energy reduction programs.
  • Oversees the new store account application and implementation process for all development projects. Works to ensure utility installation is aligned with store opening timelines.
  • Supports Marketing, Public Relations and CDO on corporate sustainability messages and programs.Provides advice and training to stakeholder departments related to sustainability and energy reduction projects. Ensures State and National ESG standards, data, and reporting requirements are met.

Work Environment:

  • Office conditions; travels to stores (local and overnight travel): 30%; must be able to work flexible hours and climb on roof approximately 40 feet high and lift up to 50 lbs.

Your background and experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field
  • Minimum five years of energy/sustainability experience with increasing management responsibility, preferably in the retail/hospitality environment
  • Successful completion of initial and periodically required training (including but not limited to store training, Recognizing & Preventing Sexual Harassment training, Conscious inclusion training, and Landmark Forum, etc.).
  • Obtaining a valid Food Handler’s Card within 30 days of employment is a requirement of this position.

Pay Range: M2 $112,500 – $158,000 / Annual

* Within the range, individual pay is determined using various factors, including work location and experience.
