Ecological Restoration/Fire Crew

Employement Duration: November 16th, 2026 – April 30th, 2027

position description: This position is meant for people who do not have or have little experience in prescribe fire. A great way to get muliptle certifications and skills to advance you further in your conservation passions/career. Prescribed fire operations will make up a significant portion of the projects and will be carried out by seasonal hourlies under the supervision of an experienced cadre. Tasks include executing day-of prescribed fire operations, as well as unit preparation and potential post-burn monitoring. Crews will likely work with other state, federal and non-profit agencies through the duration of employment. You and the crew (6 people) will also be involved with removing invasive exotic species using herbicides and chainsaws, planting longleaf pine and other species, marking timber for harvests, maintaining a canoe trail/campground, and assisting in sensitive and endangered species surveys and recovery.

Requirements: Successful applicants must pass the arduous pack test within 2 weeks of hire as a condition of employment. Applicants must have a passion for and a willingness to learn about wildlife conservation, thrive in a team-oriented environment, and demonstrate resilience with a constructive attitude during challenging situations.

Provided Trainings and Certifications: FFT2 qualified training, Fire academy, S-112 chainsaw certification, ATV/UTV certifications
