Early Childhood Educator
Daycare Department
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a passionate Early Childhood Educator who is looking for an enriching experience to be part of the daycare team. The Early Childhood Educator will be responsible for supporting and developing Fort McKay daycare students in a positive and nurturing environment. This is a full-time positions reporting directly to the Daycare Manager.
KEY RESPONSIBITIES
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Interact positively with children, parents, and other Educators.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all children.
- Follow the policies and procedures for M.O.M’s Association handbook.
- Assist children as required for personal care such as feeding/eating, diapering/toileting, handwashing, teeth brushing, dressing etc.
- Assess and assist children in reaching developmental milestones (Social, Physical, Intellectual, Creative/Cultural, Emotional).
- Create a program plan of activities for the children and submit to manager for approval.
- Set up room and prepare to conduct activities.
- Role model appropriate behaviors.
- Provide a program lesson and a list of supplies needed to the Daycare Manager.
- Follow cleaning and sanitation schedules to ensure that toys, equipment, and facility are clean and sanitary.
- Maintain room, equipment, and materials in a neat, orderly fashion.
- Ensure that children are signed in and out daily.
- Fill out appropriate forms as required.
- Participate in training and team building opportunities.
- Be an active member on the programs committee to create lessons plans with the board members and get approval.
- Provide outdoor play, weather permitted.
- Other duties as assigned.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
- Level 1 certification in Early Childhood OR must achieve within six (6) months of hire
- Must provide OR achieve First Aid in Child (within 3 months of hire)
- Must be willing to participate in additional training opportunities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to perform heavy lifting
- Experience working in a First Nations community including knowledge of First Nations culture, traditions and values is a definite asset
- Clean Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector required
- Valid class 5 Driver’s License & Clean Driver’s Abstract required
