To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.Ninewells HospitalTrauma & Orthopaedic DepartmentMFE/Orthopaedic Elective Ward (Ward 18 and ward 19)Discharge Support Volunteer Coordinator (2 posts), Band 3Fixed Term / Secondment Part time – 18 monthsAn exciting opportunity has arisen for a person to join our team in Trauma & Orthopaedics.You will assist in further developing a previously tested model which involves volunteers telephoning recently discharged patients during their first few days home from hospital. Some patients may be anxious regards going home and the volunteers will provide reassurances and build confidence of the recently discharged patient. You will manage and lead a cohort of volunteers who will make the calls.You will develop strong relationships with local community and volunteer organisations who can assist people at home.These are unique posts, and you will assist in delivering high quality person centred care alongside our skilled and dedicated nursing team. You will demonstrate a caring and compassionate approach to your work.You will be an innovative, creative and “people” person to support our discharge support volunteers. NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
