As the ambassador of People programs and strategies, you will be pivotal in overseeing key people and culture initiatives and daily operations. You will develop trusting relationships and foster collaboration across the university, working closely with academic and business leaders. You will identify needs, prioritize, define, and deliver solutions, and enable execution so that faculty and employees can do their best work in service to our students. You will serve as a strategic advisor for people and culture initiatives at the regional and national levels.This is a hybrid role, working 2-3 days a week on our Steeles Campus in Concord, Ontario.Who you areWhether you are a Director in a smaller organization or a Senior Manager looking to move up, you want to take on an individual contributor role at an exciting organization. You bring extensive experience providing on-the-ground day-to-day people support and exceptional ability to build relationships.   • Leadership alignment. You will partner with academic and business leaders to proactively define, develop and implement people and culture strategies that align with the university’s mission, values and goals. You will serve as a strategic advisor for people and culture initiatives at the regional and national level. You will lead change management initiatives and communications and support leaders and employees in navigating organizational changes by removing barriers and minimizing disruption.
  • Talent management. You will collaborate with academic and business leaders to understand their hiring needs, identify diverse talent, and develop strategies for recruitment and retention. You will foster a continuous learning environment and guide leaders in developing top talent, providing resources for faculty and employees to thrive and grow. You will oversee succession planning and career development programs to ensure a robust pipeline of future leaders.
  • Employee relations and engagement. You will be a trusted advisor to faculty, employees, and leaders, guiding them on HR-related matters and conflict resolution. You will develop initiatives to enhance employee engagement and satisfaction, leveraging data from engagement surveys, exit interviews and turnover reports.
  • Culture and inclusion. You will ensure People practices in hiring, performance evaluation, and compensation support a diverse, inclusive, collaborative organizational culture and comply with regional and national labour laws and regulations. You will partner with leaders to design and implement initiatives that support cultural transformation and alignment with core values. You will conduct new employee orientation to ensure alignment with the university’s mission, values, and strategic goals.
  • Performance management. You will coach and advise leaders on best practices in performance management that enable a high-performance and highly engaged workforce. You will oversee the implementation of performance management systems that provide continuous feedback to support employee development. You will work with managers to ensure performance evaluation processes are fair, consistent, and aligned with university goals.

You have experience developing and implementing people and culture strategies to manage employee relations and talent development, including performance reviews, career planning, and job satisfaction. You can lead change management initiatives, navigate barriers, overcome objections, and gain traction.
  • The initiative. You have a roll-up-your-sleeves approach and energetic get-it-done style. You are passionate about playing an influential role that supports and inspires leaders and employees. You thrive in a collaborative environment while working independently and taking ownership of your deliverables. You are a creative problem solver who can anticipate issues and pivot focus in a fast-paced environment.
  • The interpersonal skills. You are people-oriented and dedicated to making everyday life at work a calmer, barrier-free, and genuinely rewarding experience. You can work with anyone at any level, learning from and sharing information. You have professional communication skills and the confidence to guide and direct leaders. You excel at creating internal messaging, performance reports, and formal recommendations. You are comfortable using a range of communication tools.
