Holman is accepting applications for the position of Director- Data Platforms.
We are seeking a Director of Data Platforms to lead the development and management of our data infrastructure and platforms. In this leadership role, you will oversee the architecture, implementation, and optimization of data systems that enable our organization to manage, process, and analyze large volumes of data. You will collaborate closely with data engineers, data scientists, and business leaders to ensure our data platforms are scalable, reliable, and aligned with the company’s strategic goals.
As the Director of Data Platforms, you will be accountable for ensuring that our data systems support advanced analytics, machine learning, and business intelligence initiatives while adhering to best practices in data governance, security, and performance.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Leadership & Team Management
- Provide strong leadership, mentorship, and management to a team of data platform engineers, encouraging high performance and professional growth.
- Establish clear objectives, manage workloads, and track progress on data platform projects.
- Cultivate a culture of collaboration and innovation, promoting continuous improvement within the team.
2. Data Platform Architecture & Strategy
- Design, build, and manage scalable, robust, and secure data platforms that support large-scale data processing and analytics.
- Oversee the development and integration of data lakes, data warehouses, and real-time data pipelines to ensure seamless data flow across the organization.
- Assess and implement cloud-based platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and other cutting-edge technologies to meet business needs.
- Formulate and execute a long-term strategy for data platforms, ensuring alignment with business goals and technical requirements.
3. Data Governance & Security
- Define and enforce best practices for data governance, ensuring data quality, consistency, and accessibility across the organization.
- Implement data security measures and compliance protocols (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) to protect sensitive data and maintain regulatory compliance.
- Ensure data privacy and security policies are enforced across all data platforms and processing workflows.
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate closely with data engineering, data science, and analytics teams to align the data platform with business and analytical needs.
- Work with IT and product teams to ensure data platforms are integrated with other critical systems and applications.
- Partner with business stakeholders to understand evolving data requirements and ensure the platform supports strategic decision-making.
5. Innovation & Continuous Improvement
- Stay ahead of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data architecture and platform management.
- Advocate for the adoption of new technologies and tools that enhance the scalability, efficiency, and performance of data platforms.
- Drive the implementation of automation, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code practices to optimize platform performance and reduce manual effort.
6. Platform Performance & Cost Optimization
- Monitor platform performance, scalability, and reliability, taking proactive measures to optimize and troubleshoot as needed.
- Develop strategies for cost optimization, balancing performance with cost-effectiveness in cloud data platform usage.
- Continuously evaluate platform performance and adjust capacity to meet the needs of growing data workloads.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or platform management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Proven experience designing and managing large-scale data platforms on cloud environments (Azure).
- Strong understanding of modern data technologies, including data lakes, data warehouses, and real-time data processing.
Technical Skills
- Expertise in cloud platforms and data services (Azure) and familiarity with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Kafka).
- Strong experience with data storage solutions (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery) and data integration tools (e.g., Apache Airflow, Talend).
- Proficiency in programming and scripting languages (e.g., Python, SQL, C#/Java).
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) and infrastructure automation (Terraform, CloudFormation).
Leadership & Communication
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with a proven track record of building and leading high-performance teams.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and business teams.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and align cross-functional teams toward common goals.
Strategic & Problem-Solving Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience in designing scalable, high-performance data platforms.
- Ability to think strategically about long-term platform needs, technology trends, and business objectives.
- Experience optimizing platform costs and performance while maintaining high reliability and scalability.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with machine learning platforms and integrating data for advanced analytics or ML workflows.
- Knowledge of data orchestration tools like Apache Airflow and distributed data processing frameworks.
- Familiarity with data visualization and business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI , Tableau, Looker).
- Knowledge of data privacy laws and regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).

Pay:
We offer competitive wages that are commensurate with job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and geographic location, starting in the range of $145,790.00 – $229,625.00 USD annually for full time employees. The annual compensation range is comprised of base pay and bonus earnings.
