Salary: A competitive salary is offered inclusive of group benefits, an RRSP contribution, vacation, personal daysAn exciting leadership opportunity to join a National Association as Director, Communications and Governance. This key position works in close collaboration with the Executive Director and the leadership team responsible for managing a small team overseeing all communications and governance functions. Equally, acts as the public-facing representative responsible for both internal and external communications, strategic partnerships, and strategic objectives.Key Responsibilities:– Develop and execute strategic plans, annual budgets, and operational goals.
– Oversee communications and public relations, managing websites, online news channels, and social media.
– Supervise and mentor a small team, fostering a collaborative work environment.
– Lead the preparation of Board materials for the Executive Director’s review with a focus to ensure effective oversight.
– Manage relationships with vendors and service providers.
– Coordinate and participate in Board meetings, annual meetings, committees, and working groups.
– Oversee the design, production, and translation of internal and external publications.
– Conduct environmental scanning to stay ahead of emerging trends and industry developments.
– Plan and execute in-person Board and committee meetings, including logistics and contract approvals.Qualifications:– Post-secondary degree or diploma in Communications or a related field,
combined with understanding of governance principles and practices.
– 10+ years of experience in strategic communications; 5+ years in a leadership role.
– Strong written communication skills in English are essential; crafting clear, consistent and professional content. Knowledge of French is considered an asset.
– Proven ability to build consensus, facilitate discussions, and manage conflicts.
– Strong interpersonal skills to foster collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
– Ability to adapt to evolving priorities in a dynamic environment.
– Strong understanding of governance best practices and compliance requirements under the Canada Not-for-Profit Corporations Act.
