Reporting to the Associate Vice President and Chief Human Resources and Facilities Officer (AVP), the Director, Business Excellence and Analytics (Director), is responsible for the strategic planning, development, implementation and maintenance of Human Resources (HR) information systems, analytics, business processes and management systems. This role oversees the HRIS team and resources responsible for business intelligence, process optimization, quality management, business planning, and operational excellence in alignment the departmental and Sheridan objectives. The Director partners with other Sheridan HR leaders to enhance the efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of HR business processes, enhance technology enablement, and develop HR metrics and analytics to support data-driven decision-making, benchmarking and performance measurement.The incumbent oversees transformative HR projects and change initiatives with corporate-wide scope to support Sheridan in meeting its vision and related long-term strategic goals. The Director also leads the design, implementation and operation of a Quality Management System (QMS) for HR in alignment with applicable best practices (such as ISO) standards, including developing the associated manuals, processes, procedures, continuous improvement, and review.What You’ll Be Doing

  • Providing senior leadership and strategic direction and expert advice to all reporting teams.
  • Developing and delivering HR metrics and analytics to support data-driven decision-making and supports leaders across the organization regarding HR systems, business intelligence and analytics.
  • Developing business process maps and leading process optimization. Creating and maintaining dashboards, reports and analytics tools to provide insights into HR trends and performance using corporate systems and BI tools.
  • Establishing, implementing, and continually improving and updating the Quality Management System (QMS) and compliance governance processes in accordance with industry standards to meet the ever-evolving business and quality compliance needs.
  • Identifying potential risks associated with quality or regulatory requirements; developing and implementing solutions for them; verifying the proper implementation and effectiveness. Planning, organizing, leading, and monitoring quality and compliance activities across HR. Evaluating and analyzing Key Performance Indicator (KPI) data and identifying trends for solutions or improvement.
  • Providing strategic direction, long-range planning and operational leadership for the responsible portfolios; plans, organizes and directs portfolio services, activities, and systems to assist the college in achieving organizational effectiveness and strategic initiatives; building, leading and empowering a management team to deliver high level service to all client groups.
  • Optimizing subject matter expertise of direct reports to create integrated and innovative processes and to achieve functional goals. Accountable for overseeing the operational budget of the portfolio and financial resources by planning, developing and monitoring fiscal resources
  • Working collaboratively as a key member of the HR Senior Leadership Team to create and execute an effective overall business plan, benchmarking program, and service delivery model for the Human Resources function;
  • Identifying optimal strategy for meeting business needs and developing business and project plans to address priorities; Working with business and academic units to develop and implement the strategic goals
  • Performing other duties as assigned

  • 4-year bachelor’s degree in business administration, Information Systems, Human Resources or a related field. Master’s degree is preferred. (equivalencies to be considered)
  • Certified HR Professional or Leader designation (CHRP or CHRL)
  • 9-years progressive HR experience, including 4 years of experience in a leadership capacity with HR projects or functions
  • Experience managing multiple projects or initiatives, concurrently – including mid-large scale with multiple stakeholders
  • Solid technical knowledge and experience in portfolio areas: HRIS, quality management, business intelligence, general HR
  • Knowledge of current HR technology trends, regulations, processes in portfolio areas
  • Highly developed leadership experience formulating and implementing strategic initiatives in portfolio areas: employee and organizational development and talent acquisition
  • Experience at a senior level in program planning / implementation, and in developing and implementing organization-wide policies and procedures
  • Previous experience in a post secondary or public sector setting and unionized environment preferred
