River Alliance of Wisconsin and Midwest Environmental Advocates are jointly seeking a Development and Administrative Assistant. The individual will be a part-time, hourly employee of both organizations. Hours per week between the two organizations are expected to range from 20-24 hours.

This is a unique opportunity for a talented development and administrative professional to support the work of both our organizations.

River Alliance of Wisconsin is a statewide nonprofit organization that has empowered people to protect and restore their waters for almost 30 years.  Midwest Environmental Advocates is a nonprofit environmental law center that combines the power of law with the resolve of communities facing environmental injustice to secure and protect the rights of all people to healthy water, land and air.  

Skills you will bring: 

  • experience in donor management and nonprofit administration.
  • Detail-oriented, with a disciplined approach and commitment to data accuracy.
  • History of event and project management.
  • Commitment to water conservation and environmental protection.

What you’ll do: 

  • Enter and manage donations and contact information in our databases, EveryAction and Neon CRM.
  • Using Microsoft Word mail merge, process donor letters and prepare mailing lists.
  • Prepare and deliver bank deposits.
  • Manage event planning logistics with staff and community partners.
  • Help build and maintain a network of former employees, fellows, and interns.
  • Assist with additional administrative tasks.  Why are two organizations hiring one person?

RAW and MEA have a long history of working effectively together. Both organizations have a need for a Development and Administrative Assistant, with each organization requiring approximately 10 hours of support per week. We believe that combining these needs into a single 20-hour-per-week position creates an attractive and sustainable opportunity, allowing the successful candidate to gain meaningful experience while providing valuable support to both organizations. Our offices are located next to one another, making it easy for the employee to work seamlessly across both teams. The individual will be jointly employed by RAW and MEA. At RAW, the position will be supervised by the Executive Director; at MEA, supervision will be provided by the Development Director. Both organizations are committed to closely coordinating schedules, priorities, and administrative processes to ensure a smooth and positive experience for the employee. This position requires an in-office presence, but some remote work may be possible. Candidates must be within a commutable distance of the office in Madison, WI. The hourly wage is $20/hour.
