Deal Desk Senior Pricing Executive – Hybrid/Farringdon
Salary: c£52,000Permanent, Full timeLondon Farringdon/Hybrid – plus weekly meetings at a team convenient office, which may be nearer to you)This role focuses on maximizing value from customer-specific deals across our Parcel, International, and Retail Letters products. By working closely with our Sales team, we aim to protect RMG’s contribution while also fostering growth opportunities wherever possible.Our product portfolio includes RM Parcels, RM Letters, RM International, PFW Domestic, and PFW International, collectively valued at approximately £1.5 billion annually.In addition to revenue generation, this role involves providing deputy leadership for the Deal Desk Pricing Executive. It also includes overseeing any temporary Central Pricing Team resources, such as graduate or temporary staff, required during busy periods.About the roleIn this role you’ll:
- Manage and influence a variety of stakeholders including Legal, Regulatory, Operations and Finance Teams to ensure that all non-standard pricing is approved and compliant.
- Build a true strategic working relationship with key sales stakeholders to gain insight into customers, often through accompanied customer visits; helping to build extra value into deals and generate extra revenue for Royal Mail.
- Work with the sales teams to generate insight, market and competitor analysis, and especially where we can build value into deals.
- Take ownership of deal pricing models and understanding of how costs vary with specific customer profiles, updating these models whenever appropriate. Also be able to explain this to sales.
- Provide supplementary support for Domestic Parcels deals , supporting the core Deal Desk team, to process the c1,000 RM and PFW deals pa.
- Learn and lead on all aspects of in-life management of both domestic and international account customers through Vistex.
- Provide specific cover for the Deal Desk Senior Pricing Manager for escalated pricing issues raised on the weekly Lifeblood call and the weekly International sales call
About you
- Good mathematical and Excel skills with experience at least of examining large data sets and using models is essential; higher excel skills such as pivot tables; data matching, and other complex formulae is desirable
- Proven commercial acumen and good business sense to think strategically and identify opportunities
- An analytical degree and the experience to ensure that numerical work is accurate, consistent with other analysis and properly deployed / communicated
- Good Royal Mail and Parcelforce Worldwide Operations and product / competitor knowledge of Parcels and/or International is desirable
- Good financial understanding of the business, especially with regards to cost contribution and margin analysis
- Ability to effectively network and influence senior stakeholders and explain the business impact succinctly, verbally and in writing, up to and including to Senior Manager and occasionally Director level.
- Ability to explain complex subjects in a clear and succinct way both verbally and in writing, especially on a 1-2-1 basis with Sales, Bids and Tenders, while influencing and challenging their thinking.
- Capable in developing different commercial viewpoints, navigating complex pricing and commercial scenarios to produce a sound pricing proposal.
- Must have good organisation and governance skills; experience of working in a highly regulated environment, especially the application of competition law to Mail, is desirable.
- Good understanding of Systems, processes and resources for Price Implementation.
- Must be an effective team worker.
