At Sam’s Club, we are democratizing AI across all major functions in the business and radically disrupting conventional industry practices.

Our Data Science team is building a first-in-class platform of tools and services covering high-performance computing, ML training services, DevOps, model deployment, and metadata capture. Our goal is to decrease AI/ML development and training cycle time while raising the quality bar on AI/ML shipped services.

This is a hands-on position where you will be empowered to be creative, ambitious, and bold. Our mission on the Data Science team is to provide deep computing expertise, automated workflows, production-grade infrastructure, and helpful tooling to enable the AI/ML team and our partners to solve cutting-edge research problems in the Retail space and translate their solutions into a direct impact on the business and on Members.

About Team: Sam’s AI Labs
Centralized Data Science and Machine Learning Tech Group in Sam’s Club Tech

What you’ll do:

  • Utilize big data analytics and advanced data science techniques to identify trends, patterns, and discrepancies in data. Determine additional data needed to support insights.
  • Drive data-derived insights across the wide range of retail divisions by developing advanced statistical models, machine learning algorithms and computational algorithms based on business initiatives.
  • Direct the gathering of data, assessing data validity and synthesizing data into large analytics datasets to support project goals.
  • Debug issues across environments, services, and tools
  • A continuous drive to explore, improve, enhance, automate, and optimize models and products.
  • Work with engineering teams to implement model pipeline and deploy the service at scale.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to understand business objectives, requirements, and constraints. Work collaboratively to translate business needs into data-driven pricing solutions.
  • Document methodologies, findings, and recommendations in clear and concise manner. Communicate complex technical concepts and insights to non-technical stakeholders through presentations, reports, and dashboards
  • Drive innovation in approach, method, practices, process, outcome, delivery, or any component of end-to-end problem solving.

What you’ll bring:

  • BS or MS degree in Statistics, Computer Science or related field
  • Expertise in Data Science and Machine Learning including Regression, Classification, Ensemble Methods, Deep Learning, GenAI, etc.
  • Expertise in python, PySpark and SQL
  • Strong hands-on skills in data wrangling over massive datasets using distributed computing platform.
  • Expertise in time series forecasting
  • Experience with big data analytics – identifying trends, patterns, and outliers in large volumes of data.
  • Experience in Google Cloud platform, Vertex AI, Kubeflow, model deployment
  • Familiarity with product development life cycle
  • Domain Knowledge of one or more divisions in Retail.

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00-$180,000.00

Minimum Qualifications…

Option 1: Bachelors degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 2 years’ experience in an analytics or related field. Option 2: Masters degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field. Option 3: 4 years’ experience in an analytics or related field.
