Summary
Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area is hiring (4) summer interns to conduct environmental education programs at Piney and Hillman Campgrounds for campground guests. Interns must demonstrate excellent communications and customer service skills. When not conducting programs, interns will use the time to prepare/plan for future programs as well as help with campground functions (i.e., working the gatehouse).
The internships are full-time from May-August.
Compensation includes Free on-site housing provided if needed and $7.25/hr.

(2) positions at Hillman Ferry Campground
Duties and Responsibilities
• Research, prepare and present EE programming to campground guests. Program topics include but are not limited to nature hikes, wildlife viewing programs, scavenger hunts, ball games, and nature crafts. Opportunities are endless, with EE coordinator and Campground managers’ approval.
• Maintains professional communication and customer service skills throughout programs.
• Maintains a flexible attitude as programs may change based on interest, weather and number of people.
Qualifications and Skills
• Must be enrolled in a 4-yr accredited university pursuing a degree in conservation, education, wildlife biology, recreation, or related major.
• Strong written and oral communication skills with a variety of audiences.
• Ability to organize and plan in a timely manner.
• Ability to work independently as well as a team.
• Ability to maintain flexibility with programs.
• Customer service experience preferred.
• CPR and First-Aid preferred.
Working Conditions
• 40-hr week, flexible schedule that will include weekends, some evenings and holidays.
• Long days in humid and hot west Kentucky/Tennessee weather.
