Position Title: Business Analyst (HRIS)Location: Ottawa, OntarioWork Model: Hybrid – 4 days per week onsiteAdditional Notes:Our client is one of the largest renewable owners, operators and developers in the U.S., delivering innovative, renewable power solutions that accelerate the world towards a sustainable, low-carbon future.Our client is currently seeking an experienced Business Analyst specializing in HRIS systems, to play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between business needs and technical solutions. Leveraging your deep expertise in leading HCM / HRIS platforms—such as UKG, Workday, SAP—you will be responsible for analyzing, designing, and delivering system solutions that drive operational efficiency and enhance the employee experience. This role requires a strategic thinker and hands-on problem solver who can partner with cross-functional teams to ensure our HCM / HRIS systems effectively support organizational goals.Responsibilities

  • Partner with business stakeholders to gather, document, and analyze requirements for HCM / HRIS systems and processes.
  • Design, configure, and optimize modules across the HCM / HRIS suite, including Core HR, Payroll, Benefits, Time & Attendance, and Talent Management.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on HCM / HRIS system functionality, configuration options, and industry best practices.
  • Lead end-to-end system implementations, upgrades, and integrations with third-party platforms.
  • Translate business needs into functional specifications and work closely with technical teams to deliver system enhancements and customizations.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, user training materials, and support guides.
  • Conduct system testing, including writing test cases, executing test scripts, and managing user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Investigate and resolve complex system issues, providing Tier 2/3 support to end users.
  • Generate and analyze reports to provide insights that support business decision-making.
  • Monitor industry trends and HRIS product updates to ensure the organization leverages the latest capabilities and improvements.

The ideal candidate will hold a post secondary education in Information Systems, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, and bring 7–10 years of professional experience, with at least 5 years specifically in a Business Analyst role within the HRIS systems space. A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience with UKG Pro/UltiPro or similar enterprise HRIS platforms such as Workday or SAP SuccessFactors is required. Candidates should possess a strong understanding of HR functions including Payroll, Benefits, Time & Attendance, and Talent Management, along with a demonstrated ability to lead system implementations, upgrades, and integrations. This role demands excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to translate business requirements into actionable technical specifications. Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools is essential. Project management experience and a background in consulting are highly desirable. Preference will be given to candidates with a proven track record of configuring and supporting HR applications, gathering, and documenting requirements, collaborating with HR functional teams, and executing full lifecycle implementations from configuration to deployment and support.What will make you stand out:

  • Advanced data analysis and reporting capabilities, including proficiency with tools like Power BI, Tableau, or SQL to generate actionable insights for HR and leadership teams.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with a track record of translating complex technical requirements into clear business solutions and documentation.
