The role holder will work closely with all staff within the Engineering division to ensure the smooth integrated operational delivery of infrastructure management, engineering, fabric and maintenance services to ensure the estate and associated infrastructure is fit for purpose, legally compliant, providing high levels of customer service and meeting other institutional priorities and initiatives. The role holder will primarily lead the delivery of UCL’s lift modernisation 20 year programme, working closely with Inclusivity and Fire Teams on accessibility and egress solutions. The role will also play a part in delivering UCL’s broader Sustainability Strategy and carbon reduction targets.About the roleWe are hiring a permanent Building Services Engineer (Electrical) Lift Specialist for our campus in central London (Hybrid working).The successful candidate will be in charge of the provision of Electrical Building Services design with specialism in Lifts modernization, in relation to planned maintenance, alteration, refurbishment and new build works. You will also be required to provide technical and professional advice as necessary to ensure that all work is carried out efficiently, to the required quality standard, on time, within budget constraints and in accordance with legal and statutory requirements.**See JD for detailed duties and responsibilities***About you

  • BTEC HNC or HND in Electrical Services or appropriate experience.
  • BEng Degree.
  • Experience in delivering Lifts Installation projects with relevant qualifications.
  • Relevant experience of designing and managing Electrical Engineering Projects from inception to completion. Projects to be mainly in the range of £5,000 – £1,000,000. Experience of a range of building types.
  • Professional Project/Programme Management Qualification.
  • Conversant with modern methods of energy conservation as applied in lighting, electrical systems, heating, air conditioning, ventilation, refrigeration, combustion, and energy management.
  • Thorough knowledge of statutory regulations relating to British Standards, IET Wiring Regulations, Equality Act, Building Regulations Part M, COSSH, Health & Safety at Work Act, and the CDM (Construction, Design and Management) regulations.
  • Experience of project delivery in listed properties / HEI setting / scientific laboratories.
  • Evidence of personal application in acquiring new skills and ongoing commitment to CPD.
  • Ability to understand the requirements of non-construction professionals and work efficiently and accurately.
  • Knowledge of the working methodology of all construction trades.
  • Ability to prioritise and handle high volumes of work to balance the needs of several schemes/projects that will be running concurrently.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • Self-motivated with evidence of working under own initiative to deliver high quality complex services installations.
  • Excellent IT skills including Microsoft packages and e-mail.
  • Highly focused, results driven, methodical with excellent communication skills – oral and written; good team player but also able to work alone to tight deadlines and financial targets; uses initiative and has good problem-solving skills; well organized and disciplined; financially aware; customer focused.
