Nipissing University invites applications for the position of Associate Dean, Schulich School of Education. The Associate Dean will have an important role in the implementation of the new strategic and academic plans. The Schulich School of Education has a 100+ year old reputation of developing quality educators through innovative pre-service, in-service, and graduate programs. The Schulich School of Education emphasizes inclusivity and diversity in Canadian culture and sustains its reputation by promoting continuous professional growth and academic excellence, especially through its MEd and PhD programs.
Reporting to the Dean of the Faculty of Education and Professional Studies, the Associate Dean, Schulich School of Education is a key member of the University’s management team and plays a pivotal leadership role in the development of undergraduate and graduate education programming and research at Nipissing University. The successful incumbent will have the opportunity to shape the future direction of the Schulich School of Education’s programs, including the Bachelor of Education program, the Indigenous Teacher Education Programs, the School of Physical and Health Education and the Master of Education and PhD Education programs. The new Associate Dean will provide strategic academic leadership for all programs in the Schulich School of Education and will support the Dean in the development and achievement of academic goals and objectives. The Associate Dean will be committed to Truth and Reconciliation, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion which is evident in all aspects of their leadership style, decision-making, and interactions.
To fill the role of Associate Dean, Schulich School of Education, Nipissing University is seeking an established scholar and intellectual leader with excellent administrative and interpersonal skills, and the ability to provide energetic and dynamic leadership. The new Associate Dean will encourage innovative research and teaching across all programs, will promote the faculty inside and outside the university, and will foster and develop partnerships to meet the educational, research and innovation agenda of the University and the North Bay region.
The ideal candidate will hold a doctoral degree in education or a relevant field, an established research program, and at least five years of progressively responsible management experience in a university environment. Current or prior registration as a certified/licensed teacher would be an asset.
